Hey kids! Be the first one on your block!

Get your own, official, do-it-yourself Barack Obama “You Didn’t Build That” joke kit! Just download the pre-cut, multi-layered Photoshop template, insert a snapshot of the life’s work of some poor taxpaying sap, and watch Dear Leader denigrate the value of his hard work and initiative.

The Obama camp is out in force today, screaming that when he said, “if you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that” what he meant was you didn’t build the roads and schools and other infrastructury things that made the business possible.

Okay. Well, maybe. But honestly, is that any better?

Take your average businessman. No, he didn’t build the roads to his factory. He also didn’t sew the suit he’s wearing, didn’t brew the cup of coffee he bought at Dunkin’ Donuts on the way to work, didn’t put the gold crown on his back molar. Duh. So what?

Everyone buys many thousands of goods and services in a lifetime — why are we supposed to feel perpetually guilty about the ones we’re forced to purchase from government and pay for with taxes?

Nice website you got here. but, “…you didnt build that”

You had some help along the way. there was someone who taught you the intertubes thingy, Some mentor whom you owe a debt of gratitude to show you how to program in html, perl, javascript and C++. Someone who connected the line to your house, someone who provided you a computer keyboard adn mouse. No, Stotey, you didnt built that.

What an ass this guy is.

Cheshire – that is true back to the very first proto human who hit a rat with a rock. Ogg no built rock. However Ogg was the first to find a new use for that rock. Edison was the first to successfully combine the items he used into a lightbulb. The Wrights combined available items into a flying machine.

What didn’t the government provide in any of these cases? The mental element. The thinking, the logic, the syngergistic combining of available items into a new form.

Your argument is absurd if you think about, say FedEx . They didn’t didn’t invent the airplane or the box, or even rapid
delivery. The only thing the government provided was a slow delivery service that made someone think they find a way to do it better.

The government didn’t build that

I completely agree with you. The govt cannot build anything on it’s own without the backing of the people and their money (taxes). I should ahve ended with /sarcasm off

I have homeschooled 5 children in my lifetime and never once did I shy from paying my property taxes or asked for a reduced rate because I wasnt using the sub-par school system. I dont mind paying my taxes for the common good of society( schools, fire protection, police protection..et al)

What I do mind it the fact that the governmetn wants to tell me that I could not have done it without them. that, my friend is a stretch. I have fully used my creative mind to find a better way to do things not because of the govt, but in spite of them. it might have taken me longer without the infrastructure but I would have found a way.

If you’ve got a presidency, you didn’t build that.
SEIU and AFSCME and NEA and CNN built that.

I suppose I’d get called a Right wing nut if I quietly pointed out that an unknown percentage of Obama’s ancestors didn’t build anything in America.

Uncle B,
You’d only get called that if you were speaking about his paternal heritage. It’s fine when discussing his cracker ancestry. You would, however, be called racist if you were to point out that Obama is taking credit for everything the other 43 white presidents built.

Man, wouldn’t it be GREAT if all the phones sold from now on had a mandatory ‘BITCH SLAP’ function, that would allow you to reach out and shock someone who’s being a moron..

My interest in this innovation is PURELY selfish, since working on a help desk talking to morons gets painful after a while.

This is absolutely amazing. Obama’s Truth Team shows Romney quoting Obama and explaining that there’s a problem: Obama didn’t really say what Romney says he said. Then, in the same ad, they play Obama saying exactly what Romney said Obama said, verbatim. (@the 0:40 mark)

I have no idea what to make of this. Unless it’s the part where they try to convince us that we’re all insane.

Somebody had a Dan Quayle “potatoes” moment… Oh well, at least it seems to have lit a fire under Romney’s ass. This stuff (and a lot more) needs to be pounded on relentlessly all the way to November…

Pablo,

It’s even freakier to see the commenters’ outrage at Romney for “misrepresenting” Obama!

Didn’t build the roads – but I paid for ’em, and pay to use ’em.

Barry is, to use Mr. Dickens’ construction, an ass.

I always assumed it would be the patients that drove me out of health care. However, seven years ago, I realized it would eventually be the box-checkers and other parasites that have glommed on to what could be a very profitable (and less expensive for the consumer) industry.
