tick-tick-tick-tick

Still recycling the old Obama ‘shops. Think of it as sympathetic magic. Sweep them all away, make room for…Romney ‘shops, I guess.

Oh, and happy Bonfire Night! Sussex does Guy Fawkes in a big way (it’s kinda personal; Bloody Mary torched seventeen citizens in Lewes during that whole Catholic/Protestant thing). There will be firework displays in various villages all month long (though we’ve had a lot of rain this Fall and sodden fields have canceled some of our favorites).

In honor of the Actual Night, we just went out and let off a few Roman candles (Roman candles, get it?).

Yay Parliament! Boo Popery!

Whaddya think – am I blending in?

I dunno, do you feel blended?

I’m about to jump out of my skin, I want tomorrow to get here in the worst way.

Ditto, Pupster.

We wonders, yes we does, what M’lady has in mind for Romney art when (oh, please, please, please, dear goddess Circe!) he wins. I can think of any number of scenarios, but all of them are vulgar, in poor taste, involve O’Bugger in unsavory positions, or combinations of all three.

But McGoo is patient….

“Bloody Mary torched seventeen citizens in Lewes”

Well, not personally, she left those details to the priesthood. Still, one can see why the Brits won’t have a Catholic on the throne, or even standing close by.

Some grudges become traditions.

Mary killed around 300 Protestants and her pop, Henry, killed around 72,000 Catholics. Yet, you don’t see Catholics running around 400 years later burning things.

You can take the American out to England – but you can’t take the yank out of the immigrant? No?

Of all the things to talk about, why the Black Man?

BTW: think we could get Weasel appointed “Witchfinder-General”?

I’m betting there’s money to be made off the Climate Fascists.

The fireworks are blasting, and the cat has his ears pinned back and is cowering under the couch. The Jack Russell is indignant and keeps woofing and racing outside to catch the perpetrators. I’m sitting at the monitor and biting my nails, eager to see Barry GONE. I think the whole household could do with a double G&T. Go out tomorrow and vote, Mericans!

Well, thank you, Redd.

I, for one, am eternally grateful to Henry VIII (thug and monster though he may have been) that Britain isn’t in thrall to the dark spell cast over Ireland and the Latin countries by Rome.

And, of course, had it been, there would have been no Britain at all. Nor a USA, come to that.

I intend to vote at 7 am when the polls open. The tough part will be waiting all day for the results.

Aw, way to elevate expectations, McGoo. Actually, I don’t have a Wednesday graphic prepared. I’m hoping to stay up Tuesday night and watch the returns, and I have to be someplace Wednesday morning…so I’m expecting hump day to be pretty rocky for me, whomever wins.

Washington is vote-by-mail, but I hand carried mine down to Vote Central this morning, and dropped into the box. This state is safely blue, alas, but those danged Communists on the west side are going see my vote, if naught else.

Go Romney!

Good for you, Jeffs – I don’t have a dog in this fight but, by God, this ‘early voting’ nonsense sends shivers down my spine.

Vote on Wednesday when the ‘President eats babies’ scandal breaks on Friday?

And we have the audacity to send ‘observers’ to Rwanda’s elections?!

BTW – that’s not an anti-US comment. We have monstrous electoral scams being tried here, too.

Jeez, some people can’t catch a break. Bloody Mary burns a few and is tarred forever. Soccer fans do this kind of thing all the time!

This quote from The Nine Tailors by Dorothy Sayers seems relevant:

“You have to ring the passing-bell for everyone that dies
in the parish, don’t you, whoever they are?”

“Yes, dissenter and church alike. That was laid down by
old Sir Martin Thorpe, your great-great-grandfather, when
he left the money for the bell-fund. ‘Every Christian
soul’ was the words in his will. Why, we even had to ring
for that woman as lived up the Long Drove, as was a Roman
Catholic. Old Hezekiah was rare put out.” Mr. Godfrey
chuckled reminiscently. “‘What, ring old Tailor Paul for a
Roman?’ he says, ‘you wouldn’t call the like o’ them
Christians, would you. Rector?’ he says. ‘Why, Hezekiah,’
says Rector, ‘we was all Romans in this country once; this
church was built by Romans,’ he says. But Hezekiah, he
wouldn’t see it. He never had much education, you see.”

Ah, Kipling. Timely even 75+ years after his death.

I can imagine O’Bama slithering through a garden and into a house. There waits the Mongoose, one hopes. Not a Mustelid, but similar in appearance and habits.

And – yes – I fear its gonna be a long night tonight.

Irish coffee, anyone? I’ll be serving Kona made with spring water…and home-made whipped cream. I wonder if clotted cream would be better?

Call me crazy, but I have no expectations of having results in hand Tuesday night, or even Wednesday morning. I have visions of 2000 dancing in my head like the proverbial sugarplums, but with Ohio in the starring role. Think back to the 68 Democratic convention. No, not the well-publicized antics outside; the antics inside. What was the signature phrase?

“Ohio passes.”

No offense taken, Uncle Badger. Election scams have been around since voting began; Tammany Hall didn’t start that, although Chicago politicians took it to a high art.

The UN merely copies past criminals.
