…we wait…

I knew somebody was gonna do it. Drew nipped in and got Joan Rivers — and, what’s more, I don’t see a previous pick from him in this Dead Pool, so it’s going to stick.

Unclear what her status is, at the moment. If she’s officially declared dead before 6WBT tomorrow, the new Dead Pool is on! If not, we wait (but I still fancy Drew’s odds). Stay tuned!

Oh, also…poor Joan Rivers. Liked her. Sorry to see her go.

The news said it was surgery for a throat problem. wasn’t she a heavy smoker at one time?

Completely off topic:

Stoaty, didn’t you & Uncle B recently have a ‘bee incursion’? Here is some nightmare material:

Did you really play Mass Effect 2 for 38 hours? :+)

I think her death has been exaggerated. Eye Witless News just reported she is resting comfortable on the 4th floor at Cedars-Sinai. If they had given the room number, I would have popped by for a visit. But no, just the floor number (to protect her privacy).

Supposedly a vocal chord surgery gone wrong, but who really knows?

Make that Mount Sinai….nope, not going to New York to say hi even if they do release the room number.

I can recall her appearances on Ed Sullivan, and subbing for Carson on “Tonight.” On one of the latter appearances, she remarked about Elizabeth Taylor, re: how the former movie star had packed on the pounds in recent years:

“Liz Taylor is a woman being kept alive by a machine. A refrigerator!

I dunno, this may turn out to be a false alarm. “Resting comfortably” the sites say this morning, “stable” say others, after last night’s “medically induced coma”. It’s tough to find some report up to the minute, but I think she’s going to pull through.

The ‘medically induced coma’ was done to provide a time period for the bran to rest in case there was any swelling. They really have no idea how long her brain was without oxygen. If it was too long, she might wake up as a Democrat*.

My guess is that it was an anesthesia error, she went too deep. Listen to find out if she had anything in her system which might not have been known to the anesthetist.

[*NB: I’d like to think she’d get a tiny chuckle at that.]

While we’re waiting, how about an end of the season report on the chickens, cats, visiting foxes, and other critters. Did Uncle Badger enter anything from his garden in the local shows?

Hi Deborah!

No time for gardening, I’m afraid! Also, two of my raised beds were taken over by the mutating moonfruit – some strange cucurbits that came from.. I know not where. One produced giant marrows, which I wasn’t even able to give away (!) the other… well, we still haven;t worked out what they are.

That and a few 14 hour work days recently (really) mean I’ve rather let the garden go. On the positive side, I’m harvesting French beans for Her Stoatliness now, with more lettuces following the now stored red onions. Carrots and more spring onions still to come.

But no time. I wish I knew how to grow leisure…

Fresh red onions sound wonderful. The ones in my local grocery store are much too big, and I have to buy three in hopes of getting one that’s good. French beans—yum. I guess you’ll freeze them?

My gardening this year consisted of shoving some apple seeds into a large pot and applying water. On a lark I planted thirteen seeds in a circle and four of them sprouted. The seedlings quickly grew to about 4 inches but have stalled. Maybe they are growing roots. I know this is not a good way to cultivate apple trees but I really didn’t expect the seeds to sprout. Maybe I’ll try bonsai!

ZOMG, Quasi — did Steam nark on me? Don’t even look at how much time I spent playing Skyrim.

And yes. I played it through as the standard Commander Shepard, and now I’m playing it through as a chick. I don’t usually play female characters, but I kind of like his one. She never tries that creepy smile the other Shepard had. She’s all death and business, this girl.

Oh, and the female characters that kind of came on to male Shepard seem awfully bitchy around female Shepard.

@SWeasel…you’re my only ‘friend’ in the Steam community, so it tells me what you’re up to…so I can stalk you if I want :+) …no judgements here…my XBMC player says I’ve spent 38 full days watching TV since I installed it in February…

As you’ve probably seen ad nauseum, Ms. Rivers did move on to the big open-mic night in the sky. So the D.P. on like Donkey Kong.
