and the message is…?

I dunno. Give in to mob justice or we’ll burn our own houses down and bankrupt our neighbors?

Eric Holder’s right: we are too cowardly to have that conversation about race. But he’s wrong to think he’d like it if we did. And I suspect we eventually will.

Meanwhile, we figure we can afford to rebuild their neighborhoods from time to time, as long as they continue preying exclusively on each other.

Oh, hey, the Ferguson riots have now officially killed as many unarmed young black men as Officer Wilson.

What kind of dimwits have a riot
and burn down their own neighborhood?

Burning down somebody
else’s neighborhood at least
makes some sort of sense.

It is not we who will rebuild Ferguson. We may pay a lot of money, but money run through the Federal government goes into crony pockets and does not rebuild. See Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy. Especially the difference between the Federally aided New York City [Sandy] and New Orleans [Katrina] -v- the Gulf Coast which was rebuilt with private funds and the efforts of the residents. They could dump billions of dollars into Ferguson; and only the politically connected [who probably don’t live there] will get any benefit.

Another thing from Ferguson. The New York Times just published Officer Wilson’s home address, and Slate Magazine has published a picture of his house and the address where his wife works. This is not over, because the Left is determined that he and his family be killed.

I’m told that the area in LA that was ethnically cleansed of it’s Asian owned stores following the Rodney King riots remains a wasteland. I can’t imagine that any non-government subsidized business would even consider rebuilding in Ferguson . And so Ferguson will become just another “food desert”, like so many other areas where the feral people exist.
Fuck them all. Let them continue to wallow in their own misery.

The Rodney King riots turned me from left to right in a heartbeat. I remember tuning in, expecting to see the oppressed minority taking it out on the “Man”, but instead saw one victim-class use the occasion to burn, break, and steal shit. I’ll never forget the Roof Koreans. I’ll never forget the moment when I realized that the Social Justice movement was bullshit. My flip happened in the info stone-ages, this may be a watershed moment. One can hope.

I;m told the kid in teh car matched the shooting from well over a week ago, and that the cops are not returning media calls about it, so it may very well not be a “riot death”.

Like you, Gromulus, my flip from easygoing left-sympathizer to hard-nosed rightie happened in a moment: the Katrina mess. I had to flee it myself: 12 hours the first night driving (crawling) some 100 miles; a night spent dozing on the floor of a community center in a small Loozyana town; then sanctuary in Texas the next day. At my hotel I watched the feckless Nawlins denizens who stayed behind, whining for “de gubmint” to help ’em, when many if not all of them had cars and could have, yanno, fled. I watched as local cops helped with the looting in stores, and heard the stories, later scrubbed by the media but since confirmed to me by local police, of looters shooting at rescue ‘copters. My sympathy for them vanished that week.

The Missouri governor should have said, “If you burn your own neighborhoods, we will not help you rebuild, and no one will come to help you. If you attempt to destroy other, peaceful neighborhoods, your force will be met with equal force. That is all.” And then backed it up with real action.

When the natives (well, not exactly native natives) burned Brixton in South London some decade or two ago, they did rather nicely out of it. Before long we had the nice man from the government building recording studios and lord knows what else for them.

It’s still a vile hellhole, though.

Personally, I’d have left them to live in cardboard boxes. If nothing else, they burn easier when the time comes.

As it turns out, the young man who died in the riots was a close friend of Michael Brown and his friend who was involved in the confrontation with Officer Wilson. Apparently, he was shot execution style, then set on fire inside his card feet from where Brown died. It appears that someone didn’t like the fact that his Grand Jury testimony backed Officer Wilsons account. http://weaselzippers.us/206331-body-found-in-a-car-near-where-mike-brown-was-killed-in-ferguson/

The larger point being that this should have been used as an excuse to “inadvertently” shoot a whole bunch of che-loving types. Definitely an opportunity missed there.
