Hey, baby

‘Member this face? The burbling sunbaby from the Teletubbies? Well, she’s a nineteen year old college student now. Click the pic to see her all growed up. (No, it’s not a rickroll or anything, just a picture of a nineteen year old girl with an oddly familiar face).

The Teletubbies were new when I first started coming to the UK, and I got hooked. The UK version was much stranger than what it turned into when they brought it to the US (I can just see Children’s Television Workshop frowning at the screen, “but that wasn’t educational. It didn’t even make sense!”).

In my defense, I spent nearly all my time here either drunk or hungover, so my tastes ran to the simple and colorful. Uncle B plied me with an awful lot of strong drink back then. I’m not sure his intentions were honorable.

Last day at work before the holidays. No alarm clock for five days! w00t!

At least he finally did make an honest woman out of you.

I’m in Oslo. I still can’t figure out how Norwegians can eat so much and stay so svelte. I’m about to explode and I only got here yesterday…many more days of Christmas and much good food yet to come.

And for the record, I don’t have any idea who this flower baby is, as I’ve never seen teletubbies.

Oh, and happy Little Christmas Eve, a night which Norwegian television broadcasts this video, and every norwegian watches it. Why?

No idea. But it’s funny nonetheless, so watch it and God Jul!

I’ve heard of teletubbies but never saw any of it.

Several of my grandkids watched Teletubbies. After one showing, I was thinking: what was that all about? I learned to bring a book along when I sat with kids after that. I really decided I didn’t like them when they decided the one in purple was gay. It just didn’t seem right.

It’s the flaming baby head! Ahhhh!

I always thought that was kind of disturbing.

“The UK version was much stranger…”

Are you kidding?!? I’ve watched snippets of the state-side version over the years, and it’s one of the more surreal things I’ve seen on TV. “Stream of unconsciousness…”

Perhaps you can answer authoritatively: Tinky Winky – gay or straight? (I recall this was the topic of debate a few years back.)
