More. More than I ever wanted to know about tiaras. I think they look fucking ridiculous. The only reason they don’t look sillier is that most royals are rather elegant looking ladies and it takes seriously stupid accessories to pull that down. (For a counter-example, check out the Duchess off Cornmoooo in that thread).
Huh. I’ve just discovered my blog doesn’t have a ‘fashion’ tag. Imagine that.

Lots of websites on the tiaras. They do have interesting histories.
Saw the video on Liz’s coronation dress. All the jewels, pearls, gold thread…must of weighed a ton.

Some of them are beautiful, so much history and craftsmanship. I think the women are lovely too, despite the fact the camera is not always very kind. It takes a certain style to pull off the look, that is for sure. I don’t have any tiaras but my husband bought me a gorgeous rhinestone choker once and I looked hideous wearing it.Hard to see under the double chin, a great disappointment.

Yeah, it does take a certain look to carry off a tiara. Grace Kelly, yes; Rhea Perlman (of Cheers fame), no. Or, for example, the current Hexenbiest who wants to be crowned queen of America.
