I must admit that I rather like that Trump is about poke Hillary in the eye with an American flag….

How many “refugees” is the UK taking? I see on twitter that the UK leftys are going nuts, calling anyone and everyone who objects names.

It’s a little confusing, Ric Fan. The actual Syrian refugees we’re taking are being flown in (!) from refugee camps in Syria. Which doesn’t really match my notion of refugees as people who flee their homes with a few meager possessions on their backs.

Then there are the hordes of angry, violent young men who have trekked across Europe from all over the planet in search of welfare benefits. They claim to be refugees but are a smorgasbord of opportunistic mystery meat.

Those ones are bottled up in acres of tents on the other side of the Channel waiting to be trickled in for processing. Occasionally, they sneak through clinging to a truck or train, or drown trying to swim the Channel.

Y’all are happily rural. May I recommend that you avoid urban areas as much as possible for the foreseeable future? The response to the first major attack in Britain is going to be a cluster of the first order. Most of your cops are unarmed. From your papers, you only have about 700 cops in the entire country who regularly carry, which means the cops are just going to be targets. I will grant that you have troops from your Special Reconnaissance Regiment out of Hereford in London, but like all Brit units that have been downsized, that regiment is actually about company sized.

Add to that the leader of HM not-so-Loyal Opposition [Corbyn] is having litters of kittens at the prospect of the cops and military shooting back at terrorists who are attacking, and it is going to be just unbelievably screwed up.

If you can’t carry [and even y’all’s cops can’t], and Brit civilians fighting back is not a good bet, the only safe thing to do is stay out of the way.

I second that motion. You two, stay safe.

Oh, believe me…we’ve got the willies about London. There was a lecture Uncle B had intended to go to, but we thought…nah. And neither one of us has stepped foot on the Underground in years (for a tiny window after the bombings in 2005 there was some really, really nasty cellphone video that escaped).

We are safer than most where we are. Not only do strangers stick out like sore thumbs, but our neighbors are armed and paranoid, bless ’em. Also, the nearest juicy target is miles away.

I should add, though, that we’re not completely out of the way of trouble. All along the Southeast coast has been a traditional area of smuggling and invasion, including people smuggling. Some of the worst sorts of ‘refugees’ have been fetching up in our little towns and villages, having got themselves across the Channel somehow.

Do you know what the police do when they catch them? Buy them a one-way ticket to London and put them on a train. Or so the local rumors go…
