Anybody recognize the McCain/Palin font? I thought it was Bank Gothic, but it’s not.

I would buy and wear a T-Shirt of the sidebar graphic if it was technicolorified. And silkscreened.
aaaaand…Optima

The font is Optima (and I haven’t got it). A search of “mc cain campaign font” turns up designers being snarky about his font.
Sometimes I hate my tribe.
Comment from S. Weasel

Problem is, apotheosis, those wonderful candid shots are all too small for t-shirt graphics. They would look pixelated and horrible. I’m working on a color version of the sidebar graphic now, but the biggest I can find that photo of her is about 300 pixels wide. Printed at the usual resolution, that’s about one inch wide.
Now, I can do one that’s all graphicy and big enough for t-shirts, if you have a favorite slogan. Her standard campaign head-shot would work, too. I’m currently combing the net for more pictures — not surprisingly, more are coming online all the time — and *some* of them are large enough for print. Just not anything that moves me yet.

Ummmm, figuratively speaking, of course.
I saw a good one over the weekend. Obama’s “O” on a blue field. Maybe his web site background image. It said “Over”. Simple, but to the point. My kind of bumper sticker.

I feel really awful for Bristol, LK. The original rumors were bad enough — for a teenage girl, to be accused of looking pregnant when you ain’t is a pretty unkind cut — but now to have to work out her real pregnancy on a world stage. Jesus. Tough row to hoe. And so COMPLETELY out of bounds.

It’s kind of funny though. These lunatics are thinking, “aha wait until the ‘wingers find out about this, that’ll turn ’em off.” It’s that caricature they have of conservatives.
They truly do not understand what average small town American life is like. They probably don’t even realize that half the town in Alaska probably knew the girl was pregnant, and a) doesn’t give a damn and it’s none of their business, b) have nothing but fond wishes for the girl and hopes it all works out for the best.

Yes, I posted that…somewhere today. I visit too many blogs. The left is forever fighting against the cartoon version of conservatives that they dreamed up in their heads. That’s why all their arrows misfire.
I don’t know. Maybe there is some prissy churchlady somewhere in 2008 who would hold this against Palin. But I bet the VAST majority of even the evangelical Christians are thinking, “poor kid. She’s going to have an uphill path for a while.”

F*ck the lib feminists. They have no clue what it is to be a real woman. Check this, spewed out of one Sally Quinn’s mouth –
QUINN: I’ve been a working mother for 26 years and practically every friend I have is a working mother and works full time. So, uh, I think we are so far beyond that issue of whether women should work or not, in — uh, certainly in your world and my world. But in the world of evangelicals, that’s not the case. Women are supposed to be subservient to their husbands and they are meant to be stay-at-home moms. And women, in fact, are not allowed to be pastors in the Southern Baptist church.
It’s one thing to have one or two or three children, especially if they’re healthy children, and everyone knows that women and men are different and that moms and dads are different and that women — the burden of child care almost always falls on the woman. But I think when you have five children — one a four-month-old Down syndrome baby, and a daughter who’s 17 who’s also a child and who is going to need her mother very much in the next few months and years with her own baby coming — that I don’t see how you can not make your family your first priority.
She presumes to know the role of a Christian woman? Who the hell does she think help build this country and pave the way for her ignorant mouth? This is also another example of the rampant ignorance on the left. If they knew any history, they would know that women worked side by side men to push west. Frontier women were tough as nails. While men went out and hunted or trapped, who stayed home and ran the farm/had babies/raised the kids/feed the critters/dress the critters?
To me, Palin is every bit as tough as a frontier woman, who has a reliable good man, whom she respects and vice versa. She, just like many evangelical women, have the backbone to take care of themselves/each other. With morals.
She takes her baby to work with her. Dad runs the kids to wherever they need to go. The other sisters, I’m sure help babysit/take care of each other.
Shit, my mother went back to work after my youngest brother was born with Downs. My dad worked third shift, so he was with him while mom worked and my little sister and I took care of him when dad had to sleep. It’s called being a family.

Allen, this whole modern day feminism was a crock. These broads are man-hating ugly dykes. They have misled a generation of women.
The first feminists – the suffragettes – the ones who fought for the right to vote and the same opportunities as men, while having children or not, loved the power of being women. They abhorred abortion.
Alice Paul, National Women’s Party 1915, “Abortion is the ultimate exploitation of women.”
Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady’s weekly paper, The Revolution, 1869 – “No matter what the motive, love of ease, or a desire to save from suffering the unborn innocent, the woman is awfuly guilty who commits the deed. It will burden her conscience in life, it will burden her soul in death; But oh, thrice guilty is he who drove her to the desperation which impelled her to the crime.”

Sally Quinn is a fuckwit.
The only reason she’s been tapped as a TV pundit is because she screwed her boss and found notoriety (anyone remember that from the early 70’s and the stink it caused?).
Now she has the unmitigated audacity to think she can pass judgement on Sarah Palin?
Sally Quinn doesn’t have the proper pedigree to serve Sarah Palin a cup of coffee.
(arms folded, eyes narrow, left foot a-tappin’…)
(softens a bit) Oh, Allen…ah loves me some shmarshmellers…

PnB, I know, my wife hated modern feminists with a steaming passion. My favorite thing she had to say about ’em “who the hell put them in charge of what I should do!”

The next meme that will surely make its way to center media stage is one floating in some comments here and there – that the boyfriend should be arrested for statutory rape because of Bristol Palin’s age. And if it doesn’t happen, that just proves what hypocritical liars the Republicans are.
I am at the point where I don’t think I can stand to read anymore from the left. I used to visit the left sites to see where they stood on things and get a better idea of what made them tick. Now I see that largely, it is hatred. I can’t even fathom how much someone must hate their own lives to be so blindly hatefilled for someone they have never met or even knew about until less than a week ago. Someone who has never done anything – good, bad or indifferent – to them, their family or their friends. They are sick, sick people. I’m not religious at all but I certainly hope each and every one of them gets their just desserts one day.

pnb, you simply must stop holding it all in. It’s not good for you. π
It’s just mindboggling how we went from being proud of our roles in the traditional family to this man-hater/metrosexual viewpoint that holds that there is no difference between men and women and that we should vilify those who choose to hold on to whatever traditions they can, depending on where life has taken them.
I think, Nicole, that you have it correct. The Left is made up of this teeming mass of self-oriented viewpoints that only converge when there is a common hatred, usually aimed at something traditional or a viewpoint that holds that there are indeed absolutes. Absolutes there are, and the best absolutes are ones not dictated by how we feel that day – rather, they come from a code outside of ourselves. I don’t know… God, Yahweh, Ten Commandments, Miss Manners, the Golden Rule… pick something, pick anything, and don’t waver. But that doesn’t fly for self-centric thinkers. My litmus test? If my belief system means that I can’t always get what I want, then it’s probably not something I made up and might just have some merit (not always but it’s a start).
Huh. Just read my writin’s. Googley moogley. Time to go to bed.
Wait. Allen… Cruel Wife despises, nay… LOATHES… the modern day feminist. Gets all squirrely and twitchy. Kind of fun to bait her with feminazis just to watch the response.

Nah, I just love me some mens, being a girl, babies, and traditions/hard work/morals that made this country great. It drives me nuts to see psychos in positions of influence denigrate them. Makes me twitchy too.
I’m glad the husband is an even keel kind of guy….he helps me mellow when my pilot light goes full flame.

Weasel! Thanks so much for doing this! I still think the use of “oh piffle…” in the Obama graphic you put up here is great. Work is oppressive right now, but I hope to be able to help out with the graphics soon.

Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the
images on this blog loading? I’m trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
