It’s my Blogiversary!

blogiversary

Today is my eleventh blogiversary! In that time, there have been damn few weekdays that I failed to squeeze out something on these pages. Often something extremely lame and bad, but those too are things.

It was easier at first. There was so much new stuff to post about, what with the immigration and the moving and England and all. I fear it’s getting repetitious now. The seasons and events come ’round the same every year. It’s what I love about them, but there’s not much new to say.

But I would miss it if I didn’t have it. It’s been such a part of my daily ritual for so long. Also, I’d miss you guys terribly. So here’s to another year of low effort Summer fete posts and stories of Merry Olde. Thanks for coming along for the ride.

p.s. Oh, and I got married nine years ago today.

Happy anniversaries!

I won’t speak for all the other imaginary and/or Russian bots, but don’t feel your efforts are not noticed.

Boy, February is a bad month for brit royalty:
Lady Jane Gray – beheaded
Catherine Howard – beheaded
Mary Queen of Scots – beheaded
Richard II – starved to death

Sad about Jane & Catherine who were only in their teens.
Ms Markle better watch her step!

Warmest felicitations on your 9th and 11th double anniversaries, Mme. Ermine et Oncle Blaireau!

I think of this digital space as a Knick-Knack and Book Nook: frequently cozy but enlightening, and with the occasional politico-sociologico-bizarro wake-up call. I wouldn’t have it any other way! Thank you.

Zimbabwe opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has died. I was alerted to the situation last week when he declared that reports of his imminent death were greatly exaggerated. He said that he was receiving treatment for colon cancer in South Africa and was doing “just fine”. Always a bad sign.

He said he was shocked to read that he was critically ill.

“Of course I have cancer and not feeling too well but I am stable and the process is under control,” Tsvangirai said in a post on Twitter, adding that “I am recovering.”

How many is that now? I’ve lost count.

Ms. Stoaty, thank you for keeping this blog. It is a calm, and refreshing, if slightly zany refuge from a mad, mad world.

Happy anniversary! We are lucky you started and continue the blog. It makes me happy to stop here every evening. I’m sure the other regulars feel the same.

Uncle B and yourself are lucky you found each other.

That makes us all lucky ducks (or chickens if you prefer)

Yeah–any creative work that requires you to produce something every (day/week/month–even year) becomes a chore, and starts to feel like that world-eating space weapon in one of the Star Trek episodes. I became interested, a couple of years ago, in the (no longer extant) phenomenon of newspaper poets, and realized how utterly amazing it was that they would churn out a bit of verse every week for years on end (and a lot more charitable about the quality of some of that verse!)–same thing with this blog, only in some senses more so since it it daily. It has certainly morphed in various ways over the almost 10 years I’ve been following it, but that’s the nature of life, innit? Thing is, I do follow it, and in fact make an effort to catch up if for any reason I can’t do so for a few days. As, clearly, do many others. So you’re doing it right, and we’re glad of it!

Oh, yeah, and: It is so cool that you and Uncle Badger found each other–and that you chose your blogiversary for your wedding date! Yay you guys!

Happy Anniversary and many more to come. According to Wikipedia your ninth wedding anniversary is Pottery in the U.S.A. and Copper in the U.K. Take your pick.

Apologies for intruding upon the congrats but I think you need to set up another Dead Pool on Friday.

Morgan Tsvangirai . RIP.

[I forgot to drop this before I hit save.]

I so look forward to the summer fete postings..they bring back fond memories. I especially enjoy your art postings…a peek into another’s creative process is always intriguing.

Plus your sense of the absurd/humour makes me LOL.

@Ric I figger Merkel will prolly last just long enough for her low rent relatives to cash in with the tabloids…of course true love an all that jazz…one never knows…but she has some major family baggage.

BTW-Is it just me or are the Cambridges giving off weird estranged vibes…maybe it’s just William’s discomfort with the media. Diana left him and Harry a large inheritance, rumoured to be $40 mil each. He just doesn’t seem into it and once Gran is gone, I would not be surprised if he chose a country squire life for himself and his children.

Maybe we’ll see another King Hal? Stranger things have happen and Harry does seem to enjoy it.

11th and the 9th being celebrated! Great stuff.
Never think that your posts are being repetitious, they are not. We enjoy those things which you enjoy.
I’m a Brit and you have introduced me to some of our history of which I was previously ignorant!
This site is a haven from the madness of the rest of the WWW.
For which, many thanks.
