A moment’s pause

I don’t post on September 11. I’m still sore about it — I probably always will be — but I don’t have anything more to say. Still, it feels all kinds of wrong to ignore the occasion and silly-post.

I don’t care what you want to talk about in the comments, though.

You know they do that, right? Put “this page intentionally left blank” on blank pages in technical documentation? I once teased an engineer that we have to do that specifically because of boneheaded engineers, or we get phone calls. And he said never mind, engineers think it’s hilarious — once a boneheaded normie has printed “this page intentionally left blank” on a page, it isn’t actually blank any more.

All I have to say about today is….that day was a Tuesday, too.

Do you know, I was sure that it was, Jeff. I don’t know why that stuck in my head, but I didn’t want to look it up.

Here’s hoping they weighted him top heavy so he sank into the shit at the ocean’s bottom head first.

May the cold cold darkness embrace him,
may his spirit never find comfort, solace, or peace,
and may he remain so even after the world stops turning.

It was intentionally a Tuesday. Chosen for maximal effect that way, the bastards.

Appalling, the left can’t stop acting like dicks for one day.

(Yeah, got a new email. Protonmail is supposed to be ad-free and swears they don’t sell your info to Gaggle.)

Sept. 11: I had been out of work for about a month, and was taking the chance while job-hunting to finish a mystery novel I’d started in 2000. That morning I typed the words “The End,” got up for some coffee, turned on the TV, and saw the towers burning.

Miss Linda and her mother lived then in upstate New York, but they might have been in the city. I called, and they were fine, as was an Internet friend of mine who lived in Manhattan and worked in New Jersey.

I’ll admit I felt weird for the next few days, something, I’d guess, like the way Americans felt after Peal Harbor. “What’s coming next?” You’d have thought we’d throw every single Moslem out of the country and wouldn’t allow any more in. Instead we got the TSA and an expanded and expanding Surveillance State.

Imagine if Trump had been president then?

And the knowledge that while we swore they weren’t going to win and change us, they changed us. Now we parse our speech, we accept being treated like terrorists in many cases by people who look an awful lot LIKE the terrorists, and we allow the government to read our emails, listen to our phone conversations and monitor our hardware store purchases.
Yeah, we’re winning.

Three of us were on the road into Yosemite National Park after having driven all night from Anaheim – all I could think at first was ‘wow I must be tired, this is the weirdest and most vivid dream I’ve ever had’.
If only.

Been thinking about the attack memorial activities. I can’t help but think if the main attack had been in, say, Omaha or Minneapolis, or some such, the “remembrances” wouldn’t be so schmaltzy. In fact, instead of hours-long “memorials” we’d have a mention on the evening news, if that.
It’s mainly NYC virtue signalling. NYC ego.

(yeah. I'm going to write)

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
