I did it again

I was trying to buy a broom. I obviously have difficulty visualizing scale.

Not a full-sized broom. I wanted one of those wooden-handled bristle brushes that you sweep pathways and stuff with. But every time I found the one I wanted on Amazon, it was an ‘add on’ item. Which, if you don’t know, means you don’t actually get it until you have put £20 worth of stuff in your basket. And not just any stuff, but stuff sold directly by Amazon. Which they don’t tell you if it is on the product page.

So I usually spend an hour putting stuff into, checking the basket, and taking stuff out again. Amazon is dumb.

This one wasn’t an add-on item. But I should have realized the problem when it was described as a bonsai broom.

And that, class, is the origin of the old Northern English saying ‘daft as a brush’.

You are not alone, Ms. Weasel. I had the same problem replacing a pickax that was showing wear and tear from hard use.
The first replacement turned out to be almost a toy, more like an ice ax that climbers use to climb ice walls. So I tried again, and bough a six pound pickax. (The one I was replacing is a 4 pounder which I did not know until after I weighed the damn thing after the six pounder arrived.) My sledge hammer also weighs six pounds.

The six pound pickax is a killer to swing, but boy does it ever get work done. I just have to sit down and recuperate thirty minutes after each ten minutes of exercise.

That looks like it might be ideal for whisking out cast iron cookware just off the jet!

I shall get me hence and seek such a thing upon Amazon!

I thought it would be good for brushing eraser bits off drawings, but it sheds.

I’ve learned two things today (all I try for is one).
“Daft as a Brush,” and bonsai broom. I like ’em both.

It sheds? badly? Maybe I should just hunt up a good old fashioned ‘corn’ straw brush then
