Hmmm…

It’s the peak of the Orionid meteor showers tonight, and Stonehenge invites you to watch with their new skycam. It’s supposedly a live shot, and yes you can use your mouse to pan around 360° and even zoom to an extent.

I say ‘supposedly’ though, because it looks strange to me. No birds or planes or anything, and no cars (Stonehenge has got very busy roads on either side of it). Also, according to the satellite weather, it’s cloudy over Salisbury Plain at the moment.

English Heritage wouldn’t just lie to my face, would they?

No, I haven’t seen any meteorites. If I watch too long, the way the camera insists on sloooowly moving by itself makes me feel a little icky.

Oh

You probably missed the elfin cavalcade at 17:02 Dallas time then.
Pretty sure Tam Lin was leading the troop, but I could be wrong.

Very impressive – not a smidge of ambient light pollution on any horizon, that’s amazing.
Amazingly unlikely amazing!

Well, they’re not LYING lying.

If you look in ‘About’ in the fine print it does say,

“ The visuals are a representation of the view from within Stonehenge, a composite from various sources, not the literal view.”

So, yeah, it’s “Truthiness” except for the elvin cavalcade which is totally real.

Welp if you’re tired of watching rocks/meteors maybe/maybe not move. I suggest “Ford v Ferrari” a danged good flick..no cgi (real racing) and they didn’t sugar coat Shelby. Exciting racing, even if you know how it comes out, it’s still edge of the seat stuff and Christian Bale gives a stellar performance as legendary driver Ken Miles.

I recall a series of early dates with JavaMan: going by the Ford house to pet the 1969 Shelby GT500 on the showroom floor. It was a fastback, dark green with black top.

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
