Welp, that’s me done

photo DerHHO

Laid off and locked down. Whuff!

Earlier today, I was talking to coffee houses and shops in town who were determined to stay open as long as they could. That turned out to be another four or five hours. Boris’ briefing this afternoon pulled the plug on us all.

An awful lot of businesses won’t survive this. And the government will go deeply into debt trying to stop it. And for the foreseeable, no parties, church fetes, village celebrations. A lot of things will go and never come back. This is not a temporary change, even if they lift the lockdown in a few weeks.

They won’t. The official sources say ‘social isolation’ for at least a year.

Ah, well. I’ll keep posting, I suppose, but I won’t have anything to say. The occasional chicken picture, perhaps. We have provisioned so well ahead of time, I’m not sure when we’ll next leave the house.

You may do as you like in the comments. I know there are many more congenial places online to gather for a chat, but I would be honored if you jabbered away on my blog – about the virus or anything you please. I’m’a get very bored.

Have a good weekend! Some day we will say, where were you in the time of the plague? And you can say, shitposting on sweasel.com!

You can always post about your exploits in the video games you play or interesting things you came across online or how your chikkens are doing.

Not much is actually changing for me…I work from home and don’t go anywhere :+)

P.S.: You could learn how to record YouTube videos and do tutorials about Photoshop.

P.P.S.: You’ve been neglecting your online store, you can renew your stock of coffee cups and stuff.

It ain’t the content, its the attitude that we all love, Ms Weasel.

I’m on semi-lockdown out here in CA, where the Gubment suddenly is realizing that they can do things with the homeless besides look around them.

It won’t work. We stayed isolated for four days living off our supplies and you get to the point of such boredom, you HAVE to go out. It’s impossible to isolate humans unless they have something wrong.

In our case it was a trip to McDonalds for fast food – qtr pounders, filet of fish, egg McMuffins with ham, large fries, large cokes. $100 of food meant to sustain us for a while.

It was all gone in 3 days. I’m going out again tomorrow. Early. In N Out run. Double doubles basically, for next week.

I don’t know about BoJo. He can’t close the drive thrus (aka take away). That’s a step too far.

I can’t find a more congenial place than here to jabber. But I don’t really jabber much because when I do, I tend to regret it. But – WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!! (But probably not from Kung Flu Fighting though). Carry on and tend to the chickens.

I’ll be here, and I’m sure the others will be, too. Whether it’s chickens, visual arts, games, old houses, whatever.
Gee — you might even get back into politics and religion! (And the way I found this place was due to some religious content. Can’t remember what, but it was a link elsewhere that sent me here, geez, had to be over a decade ago.)

See ya Monday.

IMHO Going out is highly overrated. “Out” is full of idiots.

Never fear Stoaty, you’ll be busier than ever once you get your head wrapped around it.

We did some target practice with a new Walther PPK/s this afternoon which is always fun. So tonight’s entertainment is weapon maintenance.

Grrrrrrrrr. No country can survive a year of isolation! What tosh.

What the bell do they think this is a video game?

How very sad Sweasy. They are playing with fire.

I was getting locked down no matter what. Patient Zero in the US lives just up the road from me, yay! And I used to live in the town with that poor nursing home that had so many deaths. Pretty much guaranteed to be exposed but no sniffles yet! Good thing I *always* hated people so social distancing is my Olympic event.

My personal theory is this was all genetically engineered by the cats. My kitties are beyond blissful that I’ve been working from home all month.

Nah, this ain’t going to last a year. As soon as they confirm the anti-malarial drugs are effective against this beastie, Corona-Chan’s rein of terror is going to end.

We all gonna make it!

Hey to you and yours from your formerly neighboring state of NC.
Yes it seems Europe is tanked and with it the UK; remember when the two were separate? Plenty of blame to go around, but what matters now is survival, of both one’s family and the supporting society.
And I’ll second the note from above: this hysteria seems to be manufactured after a fashion. The inner redneck will emerge soon and we’ll get back to a new normal.
Cheers y’all.

To make you laugh: The small town where I live consistently votes Republican—by a huge margin—and has for decades. The daily newspaper is consistently leftist. Every editorial and political cartoon is an insult. Nevertheless, after a year of not knowing what was going on in this busy little town (pop. 18,000), I subscribed to the on-line edition of the paper. Two days later, the newspaper made the digital edition free, so everyone can get timely up-dated information about Covid-19.

The bars are all still closed here in Boston….it’s inhuman I tells ya! The husband is now unemployed. We’re fine money and food wise but 2 adults in a city apartment is pushing the boundaries of love. If our house in FL wasn’t rented thru July, we’d have just pulled the plug and retired now instead of Aug.

Teenagers are getting cranky. Skirmishes over whom ate who’s frozen waffles. Nutella jars being hidden. On day two of chicken enchiladas. Day drinking protocols are removed. Waffle wars, begun they have.

Okay, I had the grandson fall asleep on my chest today just like his dad did 30 something years ago.

And the daughter in law now understands why guns and none of them look at me like I’m a loon when I say this is over_inflated and the guvmint as is ain’t our buddies.

I’m takin my silver linings as I can.

Sun shiny day in north west Spain. Locked down, plenty of supplies in the stores (allegedly). Half a pig and in the freezer and plenty of eggs.
As we are in the wrinkly demographic we are quite happy to sit this one out. It had better not last too long as the economic fallout will have worse consequences than the Chinese Wuhan Virus flu.

Turned off the telly as a blood pressure control.

I don’t know….
All this is annoying and a bit scary but generally speaking:

Our house, is a very, very, very fine house
With two cats in the yard
Life used to be so hard
Now everything is easy ’cause of you

I’ll light the fire
You place the flowers in the vase
That you bought today
Staring at the fire
For hours and hours
While I listen to you
play your love songs
All night long for me
Only for me

Come to me now
And rest your head for just five minutes
Everything is done
Such a cozy room
The windows are illuminated
By the evening sunshine through them
Fiery gems for you
Only for you

La la la….

This is a time I wish I had chickens to talk about! Instead I will say that although things are undeniably bad, it has been worse, both here in the U.S., and abroad. It is not the Black Death, and I will not go quietly into the night. Neither will I defy logic and party and pretend all is normal….but I will keep hope in my pocket and carry on.
I sit beside the fire and think
of all that I have seen
of meadow-flowers and butterflies
in summers that have been;

Of yellow leaves and gossamer
in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun
and wind upon my hair.

I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall ever see.

For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.

I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.

But all the while I sit and think
of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet
and voices at the door.

We’re all the bunny, now.

“Strictly Germ-Proof” by Guiterman:

The Antiseptic Baby and the Prophylactic Pup
Were playing in the garden when the Bunny gambolled up;
They looked upon the creature with a loathing undisguised;
It wasn’t disinfected and it wasn’t sterilised.

They said it was microbic and a hotbed of disease;
They steamed it in a vapor of a thousand-odd degrees;
They froze it in a freezer that was cold as banished hope
And washed it in permanganate with carbolated soap.

In sulphurated hydrogen they steeped its wiggly ears;
They trimmed its frisky whiskers with a pair of hard-boiled shears;
They donned their rubber mittens and they took it by the hand
And ’lected it a member of the Fumigated Band.

There’s not a micrococcus in the garden where they play;
They bathe in pure iodoform a dozen times a day;
And each imbibes his rations from a hygienic cup —
The Bunny and The Baby and The Prophylactic Pup.

On another note, still playing the banjo, Stoaty? Wouldn’t mind a banjo post. Nero fiddled and all that…

This is an amazing political nothingburger solely designed to take down the Populists around the globe. My job went POOF, but my life hasn’t. Once the Media stops the fearmongering ( sometime in my lifetime I hope) we’ll look back, slap ourselves in the head and think Whiskey Tango Foxtrot was I thinking? On the brightside? Gas is cheap and toilet paper will get cheaper due to lack of demand…

In the ‘REALLY IMPORTANT!” news department…

Turns out Robert Wagner got lost one time and his dead wife Natalie had to go looking for him and found him with the butler in Flagrante?

Where the hell is Flagrante, is that some city in Spain?

Here’s another: (with apologies)
Gil-Galad was a funny elf
His goofy minstrels stood on a shelf
His eyes were crossed
His hair was green
His red tipped nose from far was seen
The emblem on his rusty shield
A ripe banana, freshly peeled
but long ago he rode away
and where he went to they won’t say
but one thing’s sure
They all are glad
That they got rid
of Gil-Galad
