Not plural, but yes! Funny you should ask. Earlier today I was listening to bluegrass renditions of Under the Double Eagle (Unter dem Doppeladler) by Josef Franz Wagner. Here‘s a good banjo one.

Bluegrass rendition?

bwaahahahahahah…I just had a vision of a bunch of Austrian Imperial Hussars sitting around having a jam session with fiddles, banjos, and a washtub base playing that tune.

The guy on the base keeps hosing it up because his sabertache keeps getting in the way and the fiddlers keep giving him dirty looks while the two guys on banjo smirk.

We hear a few banjos around here lately. I recently inherited my Father in Law’s pristine 1957 Gibson 4 string banjo. Looks like it has never left the case. My pawn shop 5 string, however, looks like it has never been in one. It hasn’t. Plays nice, though . . .

@Uncle Al – it does work as a banjo tune though doesn’t it 🙂

@Weasel – Mrs D almost bought a T-shirt with something close to that phrase only it’s

“Paddle faster, I think I hear banjos”

Not banjo’s, but Ukelele’s. The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain are releasing new videos on YouTube – at least two a week. One on Sunday’s of the whole group doing one song (from their own individual houses during lockdown – must be an editing nightmare!), and one midweek (one due today) by an individual member of the group.

They’re rather good, and oddly amusing.

Oh! Thanks for mentioning that, svs. We saw them in person a few years ago and they’re an amazing live act.

That’s a very interesting banjo, Clifford. If it were ten years older and five strings, it would be worth thousands, but still an interesting banjo.
