And then Noam Chomsky got cancelled

Sort of. Twitter is a crazier place than usual today, which is saying a hell of a lot.

Has anyone signed up to Parler? There seems to be a general movement of wingnuts in that direction.

I noped when registration required a phone number. I also heard someone say you got “demerits” for certain kinds of behavior. I don’t really know anything beyond that rumor.

Didn’t care for Gab at all.

You could ask why I need a Twitter substitute at all. The answer is it’s good to have rapid fire social media when there’s breaking news and stuff.

Or when I’m bored.

You can use a virtual phone number, as long as you can get a SMS message that way. Google voice lets you create a new one linked to your account, then you can disconnect it when all confirmed. Or so I hear (she said, adjusting halo…) Unfortunately the spam farms have made things annoying for us regular folks who just want our free yakkity accounts.

I have grown weary of politics, especially news about politics. I’m trying to ignore it all. The ruin in which I reside needs a new roof. That is a task that requires my attention. Financing, contractors, that is what keeps me pacing the hallway beset by worries. I only need this wreck for another ten years or so. After that, it won’t matter much, I suspect.

I signed up for Parler but haven’t really used it much. I deleted twitter & reddit, I only use bookface to keep tabs on some relatives, never got in to instagram or much else. It’s all so much a waste of time.

Oooo…a strongly worded letter signed by the usual eugenists, commies and folks with a wedgie or a hard on…how novel.

The Parler phone number is a deal breaker for me too. The preponderance of users all singing from the same hymn book with the other side lobbing in firebombs isn’t exactly compelling.

Being a dinosaur, I go to local radio channels for breaking news that might immediately impact my safety…otherwise who gives a rip anymore?

When I’m bored I do crafts, browse the webs for weird shit to gawp at or *gasp!* read a book.

Dear JK, doesn’t have FREE speech, because she’s not American.
(There may be a couple other places, but mostly, no)

Pretty simple. Though there seem to be a whole lot of people all over the world that are confused about it and think they have it.

Until the “thought police” show up at their door after they were caught on film or in print saying something that might hurt someone’s wittle fweelings.

Sigh, just another reason why America sucks though, right?

As I’ve understood it, many conservatives set up Parler accounts to back up Twitter posts that all too often go missing. I’ve followed a select few on Twitter this year, though I’ve never had an account. None of them have abandoned Twitter so far. I don’t see Parler as a viable alternative to Twitter, and won’t be signing up even if it does. Facebook — never.

Twitter has always deleted problematic people, but they’re really ramping it up lately. Pre-election, I guess.

Katie Hopkins is now gone, for example. Lots and lots of TERFs.

(yeah. I'm going to write)

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
