Happy Memorial Day

It’s a long weekend here, too, but for no particular reason.

Saturday was the first day of 2021 that we didn’t have the central heat on. I must say, though, it was gorgeous this weekend. When it’s nice here, it’s perfect – hot in the sun and cool in the shade.

I blew out my arms gardening, so please be content with this nice picture of senior cat, snoozing in the freshly turned earth of the back flower border.

I hope you observed appropriately.

Is this little lazybones B. Wartley? He’s filled out nicely, looks very handsome and cuddly. We’re in the midst of a drought in the NW this year. Our cat is sp dusty when he comes out of the vegetable garden, I refuse to touch him. Give him fifteen minutes to straighten up, though, and he’s perfectly presentable.

It was exceptionally quiet here this weekend, half the population having fled to the mountains after two weeks of windy sweater weather transitioned into a heat wave. We flew the flag, re-painted metal garden furniture, and happened to be outdoors Friday evening and again tonight when a matching set of small vintage fighter planes flew in formation overhead, trailing red, white and blue smoke and making a heck of a racket. May have been P-38s, but we’ll never know; our city’s left-wing newspaper is loath to report on any happening that smacks of patriotism. No meat on the barbie. Husband No. One had dental surgery a few days ago, and is still on a soft diet, the surgeon seemingly having unhinged the left side of his jaw and flown the coop.

This boy is a chubs and he’s two. I haven’t mentioned his name on here as he’s named after the place where we live (because we reckon he’s a local boy, maybe from one of the farms).

”… I haven’t mentioned his name on here as he’s named after the place where we live….”

For our purposes here, you may simply refer to him as “Home Boy”.

Ah, so that’s what the “B” stands for. He was lucky to find asylum in a household where domestic animals are so lovingly cared for. I assumed the “wart” part of his name was suggestive of Stoaty’s observation that he was spending much of his time in worrisome training for a career as a feline stunt man, so it’s nice to see that he’s opted for a less hazardous occupation right there at home.

(yeah. I'm going to write)

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
