Ow! My eye!
Aha! Looking for examples of Blob People illustration, I did a search of “Mailchimp Illustrations” and found:
- Mailchimp Celebrates Its Illustrators: Stephanie Wunderlich
- Mailchimp Celebrates Its Illustrators: Franz Lang
- Arevik d’Or And Her Witty Statements About Female Empowerment
On the same site, I ran across:
I’m not sure how her illustrations make me feel, but “empowerment” probably ain’t it.
I still can’t find the particular illustrator I have in mind. I strongly suspect it’s one illustrator and I’m sure it’s a woman. If I find her, I’ll let you know.
For now, a Google Images search of people illustration brings up all the ugly, politically-sensitive art you could want.
What’s that? You don’t deliberately seek out ugly art? How extraordinary!
Good weekend, everyone!
Dammit, yes I forgot the Dead Pool. It’s too late now. Oh, I *am* sorry. Would you like a special non-Friday Dead Pool, or wait a week?

I’m open for what you want to do.
But it would be more fair if it was held on Fridays as normal.
Just want to insure I know when to be at my computer.

A non-Friday Celebrity Dead Pool?
You mean, like Saturday, Sunday or Monday?
I bet you mean Monday, right?
Actually, it’s OK whatever day, I’m flexible.
Have you seen that screed by Some Veg? It’s epic! Then he ruins it by blaming “day drinking.” We’re all day drinking, Veg! That activity helps repel the ChyNah Virus!
~
It might have been a rant rather than a screed. Anyhow, epic.

I don’t know that I’ve ever felt empowerment from a piece of art other than my own. But finding the messages that aren’t actually there, be it in visual art, writing, whatever, seems to be a favorite pastime that self-important hacks have made a “journalism” career out of. Then the subject/artist retcons the whole thing. Mutual-masturbation at its best.
Good luck on your Blob-quest, Stoaty!

Museum of Bad Art (dot org). They don’t have a space anymore (kicked out of the movie theater basement they were in), but you can buy books and stuff from them. And they have a BookFace page.

Heh, set it up at some oddball hour.
But last time I checked this is your house, hence your rules, no?
Was that head picture some Dogon art of an ancient human watching the constellation where we came from?

I would say to wait for next Friday, as well. Kinda traditional, and all that.

Whatever you decide; it’s your bat and ball.
But if you delay a week, and my pick drops in the interim, I will be seriously sawed off.

Yeah, it would be just my luck for Hillary to make a visit to hell for hot sauce and I’d miss the chance to … Wait….
That would be lucky wouldn’t it. 😁😁

This is borderline intolerable.
Two weeks with no Deadpool? Where is your sense of humanity?
People are DYING out there, and we are standing by doing nothing.

I have never understood modern art, really. I had a close friend in college who was (as a rebel against his corporate industrialist father) an art major. I knew him for four years at school and it wasn’t until he had to do his senior project portfolio that I learned that he actually COULD do realistic representational painting. He was actually pretty good at it too.
However until forced by his professor, he drew only what I generously described as Thalidomide People with flippers for limbs and distorted faces. Apparently it was ‘style’.
It was after that revelation that I developed my theory that modern art is art for impressing other artists and to hell with the unwashed gawkers. A modern artist must demonstrate his knowledge and skill by breaking the rules of traditional art, and the more of them you can break in one piece, the better.
My favorite example in support of this is as follows:
What is the most basic and fundamental rule of art? I would argue that it is that the artist must create the art. However one artist (a professor at an art school) found a way to break even that rule. He put a canvas in the hallway outside his office and provided paints and brushes et al and invited his students to doodle paint as they felt inspired on it.
When the mood struck him, he took it down, signed it and claimed it as his. His (specious?) argument was that he was the instructor of his students and therefore influenced them (albeit indirectly and imperfectly) in the same way that it was a brush that actually created the art and he as as artist only influenced that brush.
Too long/ Didn’t read version:
I don’t often care for any art more modern than the impressionists.
