DANGIT!

I got the WORDLE on the first guess today. AND I’M NOT ON TWITTER TO BRAG ABOUT IT.

To be fair, getting it in one is nothing to brag about, it just means you got lucky with your start word. Getting it in two, on the other hand, takes *some* skill. I’m chuffed anyway, because I try to use a different start word every day, which lessened my chances I’d ever hit on it by accident.

So what happens when you cut a weasel off social media? She goes to the fediverse, which is like the sleazy dive bar of social media. Oh, I’m palling around with some choice characters now!

Anyway, I’m off to attend a talk. Yes, in person. We’re pretty much all the way back to the old normal, except poorer and hoarding toilet paper.

I don’t see what the big deal about the thing in Ukraine is all about –

We have always been at war with Eurasia so who cares?

And I heard on the BBC that chocolate ration has been increased to 20 grams a week, and now that that Weasel and Donald Trump have both been silenced for wrong think, the toilet paper shortage will soon be over!

Hey, that tp is bound to have some barter value when shtf.

Also, if dry, for adding small amounts to your tinder bundle.

I manage to hit most of wordle at 3/6, pisses me right off when I go 4 or more. Like most here, I’ve been classically educated. I’ve read the classics, hell, I read Beowulf in modern English in the 7th grade and read it in old English in the 9th grade (and for the record…it is sooooooo much better in old English). The kids I worked with have never read Shakespeare and have no idea what Beowulf is. They gleefully post their wordle scores of 6/6. We are doomed as a culture.

If you get too bored with Wordle, give Quordle a whirl (https://www.quordle.com/). Basically the same thing, except 4 puzzles at once. You make the same guess across all of them, but have 9 chances.

I *almost* got it in two today – I had two words to chose from and I chose…poorly.

My sister was playing a couple of months ago .. she looked at the TV and the chyron was saying that her area ‘could see up to 24″ of snow’ so she played “could” and bingo.

Two tries is very rare for me. Three tries is maybe 60%. I always start with the same word which contains five of the seven most frequently used letters in English.

No, you other bots won’t lure me into playing that thing!

Somewho it’s bound to be evil and tied to the Great Reset, I just haven’t invented the conspiracy to prove it yet!

I aim for three too, ArmyBrat, and I’m grumpy if it takes four. I hate the round, pound, sound sorts of words because it could take you all the way to six just by unlucky guesses.

I was pissed when the NYT lost my stats, but afterward secretly pleased because my current stats show I’m getting it in 3 more often than 4.

I read a man the other day saying, “I don’t get the big deal about WORDLE. I always get the right answer within six guesses.” You’ve never seen so many *eyeroll* emojis.

Okay, I don’t play wordle, but if you’re stuck on whether it’s round pound found. .. cant you enter a word like proof and see which of these it is?

Oh, yes, AliceH. That’s exactly what you do. You choose words strategically based on the hits you get and the most commonly used letters, but you only get six tries. It can stack up alarmingly!

Accidentally?

I still have to know a few letters, included and excluded, to submit to “wordcheats.” I mean, it’s not like I’m invading the birthplace of A. Vindman.

It was only for TODAY.

@ Durned

Nope. Everybody worldwide gets the same word.

Accident, honest. I was Googling WORDLE to see if it ever used non-English (because my best guesses were not English) and that day’s word was in the first page of results. Yeah, and there are people who live to spoiler the word on Twitter, if you’re not careful.

The answer is no, it should be all English words, so I think “rupee” was a total cheat.
