Clean search results, comrades!

I read a good article about search engines today, but I’ve closed so many windows I’ve pushed it out of my history. Dangit! I wanted to link and quote from it.

The gist was, the writer tested all the major search engines to see if they were depressing results. He described the specific searches he did. RT was one of them. Project Veritas. 2020 election fraud. All the search engines you’ve heard of did poorly on more than one of his tests.

Except Yandex. Which, if you don’t know, is Russia’s own search engine.

I tried it and…I really like it! It has a quick, clean interface and clean search results. It does have a tendency to show you some hits in Russian (make sure you go to yandex.com, not yandex.ru and it’s a little better).

I registered with them, thinking I could specify English only if I did that. No, but they did give me a free email. I don’t think now is the time to be using stoatyweasel@yandex.ru, but thanks anyway, Russkies.

No, I’m not a supporter of what Russia is up to, but I’m reeaaallly not a supporter of having my search engine results sanitized by the government. And I think it’s painfully boneheaded to stop eating Russian dressing or playing Tchaikovsky because Vlad is bad man.

Well, this is certainly encouraging! I came independently to the same conclusion yesterday and am now also signed up with Yandex and using their surprisingly good search engine. I haven’t done much with image searches yet but the rest looks great!

As far as all this current Russia/Ukraine crap goes, all I’ll say is that Zalenskyy is a chicken-eating fox and Putin is a fox-eating wolf. Oh, and Xi is a vulture waiting somewhat impatiently for something to die.

Totally concur. There are no heroes here. If I get nuked over this bullshit, I will be *so mad*.

You and me both. We will be, ahem, incandescent with rage.

No! You MUST participate in wholly meaningless virtue signaling behaviors, like destroying that set of Russian Nesting dolls you inherited from your grandfather, dumping the expensive Russian Vodka you already paid for down the sink because they have your money and boy that’ll show them! Take that!
Refusing to listen to Tchaikovsky, Russia Bad!
Freedom Fries!
Posting a sign in front of your house that says “Putin is NOT welcome HERE!”
Refusing to talk with Russian descended co-workers you’ve gotten along with for years, especially if they’re 2nd generation and can’t even speak Russian!

We MUST take a stand! Just as we did by wearing ineffective masks and practicing useless social behaviors during the never ending pandemic!

Russia bad! Corrupt Ukraine good!

This shit reminds me of when we supported every tin pot anti Marxist dictator from Saigon to Tehran to Panama city because even though they were corrupt scumbags, they were OUR corrupt scumbags! Take that you commie bastards!

And now, A song, dedicated to dipwad Lindsey Graham who thinks he understands “No fly zones”
And all the other idiots in Washington who have so gallantly been blowing shit up in small foreign lands that can’t strike back to the point where they think it’s okay to do to Russia too.

Did the article you read include Brave’s new search engine? I just heard about it recently. I try to use their browser as much as possible to avoid…well, everyone else.

That’s what I use, Mitch. Switched to it several months ago and I liked it a lot more than Duck Duck Go even before the recent kerfuffle. If you don’t use the Brave browser, you can still use the search engine at search.brave.com.

…still, life goes on…the Brownie’s were out in force this weekend. The moms are really good. At Tractor Supply they were dressed as the cutest bumblebees ya ever saw…across the street at the supermarket it was the Disney Princess mafia with a sign that read “$Today’s Special-4 boxes $20!!!”. I got the lemon shortbread and thin mints, of course.

They came by the house towing a red wagon and they had chip readers.

Of course I had to buy some, for the boy to eat, because they were out of Samoas though I will stoop to eat other varieties.

Yes, I’m a Brave user on all my devices. It’s my favorite browser AND they give me a money. I haven’t used their search engine, but I also have heard good things about it.

I’ve used Yandex and it seemed fine. Something about the Russian aspect turned up that made me a little suspicious, but I guess if I go back to it, I can say “All the cool kids were doing it” when they get kompromat on me or whatever. (“Dear Comrade, we notice you spending a lot of time on Len Kabasinsky’s Patreon…”)
