I’m in!

They finally opened Truth Social outside the US. Well, to the UK, anyway. I’m not sure about other countries.

Yes, it’s a Twitter clone. It’s so close, in fact, I think Twitter might have a valid infringement case. Except the checkmarks are red, not blue. So there’s that.

You really have to follow a couple of hundred accounts on any site to get a good info stream going, but I’ve found a hundred worthy follows already (mostly names I knew from elsewhere) and it’s gaining steam.

The general IQ of comments is on the low side, as you might expect from a new social media site made up of rejects from other social media sites. They allow trolling, which is good. I mean, I mute idiots, but I hate sites that are ban-happy and build the bubble for you.

Honestly, it’s better than I expected. Not too buggy, moves fast. If you’re on there, let me know – though I get the impression most of you all are not social media ninnies.

The question is – do I go for my red checkmark?

Yes, it was hot today. No, I do not believe that sheds and cars spontaneously combusted. I do not believe all the fires in London today are perfectly natural consequences of hot weather. And as I sit here, comes the front of thunderstorms that will blow it all away. It’s in the seventies for the foreseeable.

Two days in the nineties and they lose their minds.

90 degrees is too hot.
We have had a few 90+ days, and many days in the high eighties. Also too hot.

When it gets that hot, I move to the basement and don’t come out until the temperatures are more reasonable. I fear that this August is going to be life-threatening.

I lived in the basement during heat waves in Rhode Island, Skandia. I’m fine to about eighty five degrees. Over than, miserable.

ExpressoBold: dude! A familiar face on Truth Social!

Nope. Truth Social is still not available in the Philippines. I’m actually suspended from Twitter at the moment – probably permanently, as I refuse to give them my phone number. How is the toxicity level at Truth Social, compared to Twitter? I’m actually enjoying the break, so I don’t know how excited I will be when TS finally arrives here.

Still hot and rainy here. But you get used to the heat – we have no aircon in the house as the electric service sucks and we sleep with only fans and no top sheet. When it gets cold (in the 70s), we pull out the top sheet and drop the fans from high speed to low.

The weather I’m worried about is Typhoons. We are heading into that season now, probably already into it, and it will last until the new year. That’s the weather I worry about most. Too much wind, too much rain, no electricity, flooding, mudslides, and property damage. Ugh.

Those fires are because people plugged 1 or 3 fans into outlets that already had an outlet multiplier with 3 or 4 lights/ electronics/etc plugged in with a system that is straining under load. I get y’all use 220V at outlets but even those have limits!

I noticed the big accounts have many followers, but are following very few people. That tells me they post a lot but don’t intend to us TS for their own browsing. Also, almost nobody puts a bio in their bio – they just expect you to know who they are. So if I don’t, I don’t bother following.

But I’m following about a hundred big newsy accounts like the Federalist and Bongino, and it’s actually pretty good as a news aggregator.

Ahhhh, perspective.
Next week it’s supposed to cool off in Phoenix.
It’s going to be down to nearly 100 degrees.

(yeah. I'm going to write)

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
