That you, bro?

If you want a walking stick with a portrait of Dante Alighieri on it, I got you. May be useful for hiking out of the Inferno.

It’s the second time this summer I’ve seen this stick – I assume it’s the same one. Dude sells horse brasses and leather riding tack and such. First time I saw it, I yelped, “Dante!”

…and everyone moved away from me on the Group W bench.

Dante’s death mask, from which this portrait derives, is apparently not a death mask at all:

…recent studies suggest that the mask was probably carved in 1483 by Pietro and Tullio Lombardo 162 years after Dante’s death. A reason why people did not believe that the mask was the true mask was because of the nose of the mask. A hooked nose is a sign of intelligence and mischief, and throughout the year Dante’s nose has become more and more hooked in representations such as Botticelli’s portrait of Dante.

Another weekend, another country show. The season is almost past now.

The thing that I remember about Dante’s Inferno is that he was almost sadistically creative in devising the punishments given out in Hell.

100 Days of Dante dot com is of interest to Dante fans. It’s like a giant reading group for the Divine Comedy. Lots of insight from people smarter than myself. The videos of scholar commentary on each canto are nifty.

Helppp…I’mmmm Meltingggg………

Zowie, 111 yesterday and the same today. Cal-ISO warned there will be rolling blackouts until the heat breaks.

Helluva job Gov Nuisance!!

A friends daughter is an ER nurse who recently spent $4500 to install a home charger. She had to rent a car to commute to & from work cuz the hospital turned their chargers off. Yep, now we’re paying for a bunch of smug asshats to lord over us Plebs how cool they are as we pay to charge their electric cars when we access healthcare.

Grrrrrrr…….

LA is running out of water, City Hall issued a no outside watering edict yesterday, rolling power blackouts loom this afternoon as temps 115+, and crime is off the hook, but they will continue to virtue signal by electing more of the same.

To paraphrase Insty: They voted for green policies and now they’re getting the results… good and hard.

Sigh..it’s me BJM.

On a lighter note…late Friday afternoon we noticed two young fawns in the yard. Mom stood outside the fence. They tried jumping the 5′ perimeter fence, but after much boing-ing they gave up. I gave them a bucket of water and we put ramps up so they could jump the fence…but they are too young to scale a ramp. Fish & Game said to let them find their own way out…they only come out for tagged carcasses. Thanks (more candidates for heads on pikes).

Mom walked in the main gate yesterday and rounded them up…then proceeded to sleep in the shade at the back of my veggie garden…after munching down most of the Italian & bell pepper plants. They avoided the jalapenos & hot banana pepper plants.

Okay, I thought we’ll leave the front gate open and she’ll leave with them. Fat chance…I watched them on a security cam as they proceeded to munch apples a 100 ft. from the open gate…then mom laid down to sleep. No way they are leaving, our garden is deer paradise during the drought. This morning I hung reflective scary bird tape on the trees…I hope it works. They are the cutest little buggers, but my patience is wearing thin.

Mitch, the chances are we won’t see him again this year. He had *lots* of sticks, though, so there’s some chance he’ll still have it next year. I’ll keep an eye out and buy it for you if I can.

I didn’t check his prices, but he’s likely to be cheaper than the guys who make them (that tends to run about £30).
