Quinces!

One year, the quince tree at work was dropping so much fruit from on high, we seriously feared a quince would bean a visitor to death. We had it savagely cut back and it sulked for three years. This is the first year it’s fruited since.

Oddly enough, there was no low-hanging fruit *thinking face emoji*

I had to wait for some of the higher fruit to overripen and fall. That’s why it’s so spotty. I’ll cut out the worst buts and it’ll be fine for quince jelly.

I love quince jelly, but making it is such a pain in the ass, I go several years between batches.

Storm’s a-coming tonight, everyone. It is upon us. Logging off to hunker down. Have a good weekend!

@SWeasy…emojis are built into Windows 10/11…in any text box put the cursor where you want to insert the emoji, go Windows Key . (Winkey and period key), click on emojis to insert in text box …they suck compared to Samsung but you can insert them in any text box.

🤔🤨😁

Stay safe from the storm and have a nice weekend!

Something comforting about being snugged down and safe from a storm. I use thunderstorm soundtracks for sleeping some nights when my damn brain won’t shut off.

Tornados and Hurricane Ian notwithstanding of course.

Hope you have a snug and happy night and a great weekend.

If two Quinces from a tree and both hit someone in the head very hard, could that be called Quince a dents ?🧐🤔🤨

Yes! If the quince(s)(?) smuck them in the teeth.

Quince-a-dents.

and if you’re at a 15 year-old hispanic girls’ party that is serving quince, is it called a quince-anera?

Uncle Al looks asquince at dubious puns.

OT: We made it through Ian’s blasts OK. Virtually no house damage from 100 MPH winds. Power was out only about 9 hours (thanks FPL!). Still no Comcast landline phone, cable, or internet. I’ve had a Starlink account for months and finally got around to setting up the antenna, so I’ve got Elon Musk to thank, too. The people South of us are in terrible condition after 140 MPH winds swept through Port Charlotte and Ft. Myers. Armybrat is North of us so I imagine she and family are OK; I sure hope so.

@Uncle Al – good to hear y’all ‘weathered’ the storm without harm!

@Uncle Al…we made it thru Ian with only landscape damage. Lots and lots of landscape damage. Our wind gauge recorded sustained winds just shy of 90mph for hours. We lost power for about 2 hours but the whole house generator kicked right in and I slept thru most of it all. Our friends down the road…not so lucky. They lost about 30% of their roof, no power for 10 hours. All in all, we were very lucky and extremely blessed.
