Wait…what?
Doctor gave me some meds today. I’m a bit nonplussed. That’s some kind of wide symptom range.
No, I didn’t go to the doctor about my little episode, though I’m still not feeling 100%. I had a longstanding appointment for a meds check (blood pressure) and so he could fuss at me about my cholesterol again.
I ain’t taking statins. There must be a note to that effect in my charts, because he just sighed and nodded.
Okay, you can have the anxiety, but could I keep a little schizophrenia?
Have a good weekend, y’all.

Just kidding…I’m terrified of schizophrenia. My mother, who was a nurse, used to say you could smell schizophrenia.
Not literally. There something about it that makes all your danger alarms go off full blast.

Oh, come on.
The government would never come up with tables and measures that are used to justify massive sale of pharmaceuticals to the majority of the population for various “conditions”.
Never.
Hey, are you up to date on your Covid boosters y’all?

I prefer to think of myself as manic / depressive rather than schizophrenic. I have trouble enough controlling one of me – I am Jeckyl and Hyde
both but I sign all my checks with one name

My eldest sister became full-blown bipolar as she aged, and just being around her when she was in one of her ‘episodes’ was a hair-raising- almost literally. You could feel the waves of anxiety coming off her; it made it hard to be around her at those times. Almost like it was contagious. Tripped the old ‘fight-or-flight’ response. Not good.

I’m sorry to hear you’re not back to 100%, stoaty, but very glad that you’re heading in that direction.
Everything that’s been said about being around schizophrenic people is on target. I’ve spent time with two, and they can be and usually are SCARY AS HELL.
Now, to lighten the mood (!) a bit… I’ve read that the Australians have the largest number of idioms for vomiting than any other nationality. My own favorites are Technicolor Yawn and Driving the Porcelain Bus.

I have anxiety!—but that must have something to do with the mother-in-law moving in.
I think SHE has schizophrenia: Sees dead pets and hears non-existent people calling her name.
Stoatie, I’m glad you resist the statination. None of those drugs have been shown to have any effect unless you already have heart disease. Weren’t they proposing putting it in the drinking water over there??

and the quintessential Aussie term chunder.
As in:
Quite the reverse is true of ‘Chateau Chunder’, which is an appellation controlée specially grown for those keen on regurgitation — a fine wine which really opens up the sluices at both ends.
Do I need to identify the source?

The cholesterol hypothesis is crap and always has been crap. Don’t worry about this nonsense. Your doctor is enmeshed in the ‘because this is the template’ institutional version of healthcare, which is as easy to turn aside from bad ideas as the Titanic.

This has been observed and known and written about for at least 15 years, but doctors are still prescribing this statin poison and feeling great about it.
The very studies that statin use were based on, are crap. The reduction of heart attacks was negligible, the side effects high, but they used statistical misrepresentations to slither this garbage across the finish line.
If your family is predisposed to angina and arterial blockages, take nattokinase supplements and love your life.
