The Summer Fete season is nearing the end for 2024 and I haven’t posted about it once. It’s the same every year. That’s part of the charm, but it makes for lousy content.
This weekend, I petted the same two donkeys that I petted last year and the year before. Nice beasts, but you know. Limited replayability.
I do get a kick out of the judging at this one every year. They take it so seriously. If you can’t read that, it says “Great cake and flavour but quite messy finish. What a shame.”
Silver cups for the winners, so there are stakes. I’m sure there were plenty of noses out of joint in the aftermath.
The sad truth is, Summer is almost over. I just hosted a Zoom meeting and we set the date of the next meeting for September. It’s almost September, y’all.
It would help if we hadn’t had such a cold last three months. Hottest year on record, everyone.

I recall the great summer after the 1st Khan died.
We’d been diligently recording the temperatures and storing them in Urg’s Yurt (in Fahrenheit you know, none of this Swedish crap).
Then Urg, upset as he was over the death of the Khan, got stinking drunk on Kumis (like there was something else to get pie eyed on?), knocked over a brazier (not a brassiere you know, although his wife Kamlack was pretty danged hot, if you get my meaning, didn’t need three dogs to keep warm in that Yurt!)
anyway (to quote Joe Biden, who’s grandfather was the 1st Khan and who’s son Beau personally conquered China three times!)
…?
Where was I….
Oh, right, well Urg set the Yurt where we kept all the temperature records to light and now we’ve had to start all over again.
Hottest, coldest, wettest, most whatever we need to keep the villagers scared witless. All new data set. All new records.
Sad really.
Lost all the hand drawn porn, he had it stashed in the horse hides for September, year of the Horned Cow.
Poof gone.

I was going to make a comment but now I find that @YurtYankee has rendered anything and everything I might say as utterly irrelevant, inconsequential, and boring. Well done! 1e9 upthumbs!

I love the idea of the Summer Fete Season. Donkeys, too. Cake contest is good, but I wonder what kind of cake would have a messy finish!
