Cholesterol aficionados take note: I spotted clotted cream in Trader Joe's on Garnet Ave. in Pacific Beach (San Diego). They also had crumpets! Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive/But to be stuffing one's cakehole with crumpets in SoCal was very heaven!

Yeah, they should call it thickened cream, or ultra cream or Xtreme cream or something.

Oh, look! Charlotte just brought me a shrew. And it's my lucky day -- it's already dead!

It's that whole "clotted" business that puts me off. Well, that and I never was an adventurous eater. I knows what I likes and I likes what I knows. Prime rib comes to mind. :)

Happy belated Fourth, to all, especially to those recovering from that fifth.

Dean & Deluca has clotted cream as well. But very expensive. If you can get unpasteurized cream farm fresh, you can make your own. If all you have is pasteurized, you can get a pale imitation by running it in a food processor for a few minutes till very thick and close to butter consistency. I wish it would catch on here in the states.

Happy 4th to all who celebrate it!

So I wandered here on the 4th wondering if you would indeed write about "the 4th of July." As you can see, I'm still wondering.

That's okay, Anonymous. You're my favorite author!

Yeah, after the country fair, our next door neighbors invited us over for drinks. We drank all their booze, ate all their food and monopolized all the conversation. w00t!

Happy Independence Day, S. Weasel. I hope you were able to celebrate in a happy, neighborly way.

Re: Clotted Cream. I think it is the finest thing that man ever did with the cow's finest offering.

Phooey---I hit post before I'd filled in my name and other stuff. Oh, well ...

Gromulin - count your blessings! Fireworks are illegal in Arizona. We have to smuggle them over the border (the New Mexican one!)
Here is my husband and his friends getting arrested. Nah...the cops let them go with a warning.

I'll have to check the local Whole Paycheck. I avoid it usually, the Vegan Zombie cargo-cult that worships at that place creeps me out. Nothing like the patchouli-scented undead to ruin my appetite.

Holy Crap...Fireworks are freakin expensive this year! A medium size family pack and a few extras set me back over $100!. I could buy two flats of 12GA. target loads for the same price, and let the boy blast away at some melons, but the neighbors would get freaked out I suppose.

Pffft...suburbia.
