Just one thing I’d like to see : The Statue of Liberty stabbed in the back, a look of shock and despair on her face as she tries to see the knife. Her torch and tablets are falling from her failing hands. We can clearly see the Obama logo on the knife handle and the legend Vae Victa (woe to the conquered) as the header.

Nancy Pelosi might be as stupid as a big bag of stupid things, but she’s crafty. I wouldn’t put it past her to pull some procedural shenanigans to negate a filibuster. That such a move would drop a depth charge on the Dems in 2010 is immaterial. If they get the change to bring a sixth of the US economy under government control, they’ll be willing to take a few casualties. It ain’t over till the Botox lady concedes defeat.

Someone smarter than me, sorry I can’t remember who, had the idea to use the pro-choice slogans against government health-care; my body, my choice(of health care providers), keep your laws out of my uterus(and the rest of me), etc.

This may not mean a lot if you have never heard Flanders and Swann -- they were a British comedy duo in the Fifties and Sixties who did stage shows featuring very clever songs. Madeira M'Dear is the one Americans are most likely to have heard (my mother loved that, as performed by -- of all people -- Tony Randall). The Hippopotamus Song, maybe ("mud, mud, glorious mud!").
