That isn’t as bad as cards i have seen in WH Smiths. They have a whole section on civil partnerships. One that stood out was ‘to my big gay boy’ that was funny!

Which reminds me, I need to have new carpeting “laid” in a couple of rooms upstairs.

The only upside to this is actually having another opportunity to vote against Linc. I think last time I wrote in Abu Rodney (Driver). Sure he’s a loon and a rabid Israel hater but, like Patches, he would be appropriate to represent our strange little state. We’re like North Korea to Mass.’s PRC. A senator Linc would have been too much.

Can’t wait for the toll booths to go up on 95.

And I’m gonna take a class at RISD. Need to find some goth gear.

Uncle B's granddaddy burned coke fires. There was a lot more of it in them days. Voting for Linc Chafee last time he was pretending to be a Republican was one of the most painful things I've ever done. Remember that election? The one where the squish RINOs said to us rabid 'wingers, "whadd're you going to do baby? Stay home and not vote baby? Waste your vote writing in a third party, baby?" Fuck, I hated that election. I swore I'd never hold my nose and vote RINO again. Sure, I voted for McCain in the very next contest. But I did it for Sarahcuda.

When we bought this new stove, we made sure it was multi-fuel, just to cover all our bases. So we can burn wood, and do when it isn’t so cold.

What we’re burning now isn’t reallhy coal, but solid fuel. Think charcoal briquettes. They make many different varieties using various recipes for certain burning characteristics. The stuff we’re using now is very hard to light, but burns hot as a sumbitch once its lit, and very clean.

We have some coal, too, down in the bottom of the bunker (the coal bunker; we haven’t gone Adolph and Eva on you yet). We’ve burned out share in the past, but it does mean more chimney sweepings.

Coal, as you might imagine, was once HUGE here.

EW1(SG): It’s been a long time since there were retail coal-sellers. Somebody (was it Lileks?) posted a vintage ad for “Blue Star Brand” coal, which included the suggestion “try a ton”.

A ton. It’s hard to imagine something being sold to the public in tons.
