The special which you speak of has been burned to my dvr. I was pleased to know that Earl was born and raised in Shelby-Flint Hill, North Carolina. I recorded the show by sheer happenstance. Once i can figure out how to record this to something other than the dvr I will let you know and send you a copy. If you don’t already have a copy.

And you see the foggy mtn segment and you’ll see Steve Martin rolling the 3 finger technique. Clawhammer he does but 3 finger is the shiite.

Just got the directv dvr last sunday and haven’t tried to move anything around to or from my laptops. That’ll be tomorrow. Earl by the way, replaced stringbean in Bill Monroe’s band. He and Lester Flatt both worked for Bill Monroe and split at the time.
Hence they joined Mack Wiseman and Jack Shoemaker and Flatt and Scruggs made the Foggy Mountain Boys were born.
History with a tune. Go figure.
Guess now I can start a Farcebook page fo Earl to be given the Presidential Medal of Freedom or Congressional Gold Medal. It seems the least that this race- obssessed Preznit can do. If Earl werena race baiter or community organizer he’d have the medal already.

Folks, the community/cause page “Presidential Medal of Freedom for Earl Scruggs” is up over at farcebook. You can look, add comments, whatever you like. Like it, too. I hope this goes somewhere and I intend to be aggressive on the part of a great North Carolinian.
We’ll see where this little campaign goes.
