So close…

I’ve been playing Mad Jack Keepaway all evening, so no good content from me tonight. That boy is a nutcase.

But have a gander at this. Charlotte is a jealous goddess, so this represents real progress.

We went from: aware he exists, refuses to come in the house. To: aware he is in the house, runs as fast as possible from food bowl to front door and screams to go out. To: aware he is in the house, can curl up and sleep quite happily in the same room unless he hoves in sight, then much hissing and yowling. To: sleeps in the room with him quite happily, hisses and bops him one if he gets too close.

Sooner or later, they WILL curl up together, because cats are heat-seeking missiles, and other cats are soft and warm.

I can hear the growls just from looking at the picture.

The picture is of a young future artard drawing a nood fimmel model.
Fantastic!

I thought when I adopted Wolf, the big black longhair, that Chekov, the incumbent Siberian cat, would hiss and growl and hide under the bed. Nope. A few minutes of sniffing each other and walking warily, and within an hour they were sitting in the window together watching birds.

Now they play-fight like brothers and even groom each other. I swear, one day I’m gonna come home and find ’em braiding each others’ tails and watching “Glee.”

Hasing one cat already, and now you has two; with a him and a her, soon you’ll have six or eight more? And then another six, and so on, and so on?

Well, maybe…more likely, though, I’m betting sweet Charlotte will successfully resist any Mad Jack overtures that might perchance develop prior to said Mad One’s being surgically relieved of progeny-generation capability…

Timing might be a bit tricky there, though, so – who knows?

” … cats are heat-seeking missiles, and other cats are soft and warm.” Agreed!

Psst—another idea for Uncle Badger’s Christmas present: elevation drawings of Badger House, with detailed drawings of things like the roof tiles, attic timbers, window latches, fireplace bricks, et cetera.

(I drew my first house elevation when I was a first-grader. I had a huge sheet of manila paper, and a wooden ruler—with that little brass straight edge stuck in it. The scale was off, so it looked about 5x longer than our real house, but the details were correct; my teacher made quite a fuss over it, and hung it at the front of the classroom. My heart nearly beat out of my chest.)
