That article marked a new low for a newspaper which, I’m afraid, recently appointed an American Lefty to oversee its direction.

It isn’t even fit to wrap chips in these days.

It never occurs to the writers of articles like that that when the standard is objective excellence in a given science, those who most fully embrace reason and Western values are necessarily those who will most often triumph. Nor does it seem to occur to them to stop whining and start considering and admiring the incomparable benefits brought to the rest of us when those men succeed. Still less does it occur to them to thank those men, rather than revile them as oppressors. Mediocrity never recognizes anything better than itself, however, so don’t look for change any time soon.

I can only add a tiny thing: those who talk about White Western Male Oppression are simply envious and cannot admit to themselves that the Western culture that has historically recognized the value of distinguishing the best way for men and women to coordinate and organize their efforts has been the most successful way for humans in general to coordinate and organize their efforts to produce the highest proportion of free and wealthy families and individuals.

(Looking over what I just wrote reveals to me that it is a bit awkward but I hope you get my drift.)

No religion, no race, no country, no civilization is better than any other – so when one achieves greater prosperity than another, there must have been cheating and exploitation. There’s a deep irony in self styled ‘progressives’ refusing to admit that there is any such thing as ‘progress’ – and that such progress is exemplified by Western culture.

Though, on second thoughts, I possibly should have expressed that last sentiment in the past tense.

It’s the liberal mind set. They say to themselves, “I’m smart, well educated, smarter than them, and I lost. So they must have cheated, so the only way I can win is to cheat more.”

That’s how you get fabricated data, close friends to ‘peer review’ you work in exchange for a favorable review of their work. They know they are right, they have to be right. They can’t make mistakes, they have worked so hard and they deserve it. That’s why they attack their competition.

They don’t know any better because their self esteem has been over inflated.

Society is turning to shit, because people are convinced the road to glory and riches is to be able to claim the most disgustingly absurd Jerry Springer moment in history…

Not awkward, Uncle Al, and spot on. To paraphrase a philosopher, ‘Don’t bother to examine a folly; just ask yourself what it accomplishes.’ It’s stupid on the face of it to complain about whether Nobel winners have breasts or not. What these whiners are trying to accomplish is not to raise women and minorities to greater achievements, but to tear down the achievements of the men who have already attained them. It’s one thing to be of modest intelligence yet admire those who use their higher IQs to reach greatness in their fields. It’s another to be of modest intelligence and be so consumed with envy and spite that you cannot stand the sight of greatness. The destruction of the good to soothe the self-loathing of the mediocre is the curse of every age, and this assault on the best men in science is just another manifestation of that spiritual poverty.

Read The Blank Slate by Stephen Pinker. It’s a systematic demolition of the dogma dear to every mid-20th century progressive – that there are no hereditary elements in human nature, that all qualities of character and intellect are acquired.

Though leftists (including many scientists) still won’t admit it, the reality of biological nature won’t go away.

Incidentally, the Telegraph seems to have missed another form of bigotry in the Nobels.

Looking at the Physics prize, there have been no Spanish or Portuguese winners, but four Swedes. Only one Belgian, but nine Dutch winners. Thirteen French, but twenty-four British.

Obviously, the Nobel committee is prejudiced against Catholics.

The Nobel Committee is obviously biased, they only award the physics prize to scientists who work in places where real physics research is done.

That would be western countries like Japan.
