HNY, y’all
Not my favorite holiday, New Year. Passage of time, reminders thereof…I don’t like it. And this year, the host we usually Auld Lang Syne wit’ has come down with a nasty cold and begged off. So it’s drinking in front of the television again!
Not a complaint. Roaring fire, pair of pussycats, some silly film or other. There are worse ways to pass an evening. And 2015 was a pretty okay year for us personally. Out in the big wide, that’s another thing, but inside Mustelid Towers: no complaints. More of the same, please.

Happy New Year to you and Uncle Badger as well, Stoaty. Prepping for my annual “working” NYE: assisting my wife during her bellydance gig at local upscale ethnic restaurant. Keeping the music on track, arranging balancing-props (candle tray, Scimitar), all while I eat delicious food with the owner. This year it’s Turkish.

As predicted, the mustelids are halfway through a bottle of champagne, watching the fireworks on TV from London (pretty impressive this year) and already laying plans for 2016’s wickedness.

Yah, I’m sick also. At least with the head cold, plus the bunker AND the headphones – I didn’t hear the warzone outside nor the bad, BAD karaoke.
I did miss the roast pig, so that’s disappointing.

I love New Years. Fresh start. Wipe a whole year’s slate clean. All things are possible blah blah blah.
It’s silly, but I really do love this random-yet-nigh-universal closing of the battered and stained account book and starting a nice, clean, unsullied New one. All personal,professional failures archived – all tragedies and traumas relabeled from “shock/surprise” to “that’s life, deal”.
