Happy Boxing Day!

boxinggloves

All these years in the UK, I still haven’t worked out WTF that means.

We had a lovely Christmas: tons of lovely loot, heaps of lovely food. That social butterfly of a free-range turkey was delicious, though her legs reflected a toughness born of all the exercise she got running around gossiping with her turkey friends in flowery meadows. The cats get that part.

I still haven’t recovered my stamina, though, so I won’t linger. Santa prescribes indolence and reading of books.

Hope yours was as nice as ours!

Merry Christmas to you and yours, and a Happy New Year! (from the depths of Lower Alabama)

Nice. Just noticed the Christmas ornament on the Dead Pool graphic. Well done.

Happy Boxing Day and New Year to y’all on the other side of the pond.

If celebrities were smart, and they are not, they would check into a hospital this final week of 2016, just in case. IYKWIMAITYD!

Any news on the Queen? All we hear around here is that she must be really sick.

I recall reading years ago, no, I’m not checking Google, that Boxing Day dated back to the Upstairs Downstairs days when the domestic staff had to work on Christmas day, then they got a bit of consideration in the form of a gift [box] on the 26th.
One of the things I always thought well of ‘W’ Bush was that they always stayed in the White House through Christmas Day so the staff and Secret Service could spend the day with their families. Then they run off the next day to KennyBunkPort or wherever.

Merry Christmas to all the Weasels, Varmits and other critters round about these parts. 🙂

This was the first Christmas in 40 years that I wasn’t with at least one of my kids, so it was pretty quiet and uneventful. I did get some prezzies, though!

Not here, they wouldn’t Ric Fan! Check yourself into an NHS hospital and you’d either starve to death from neglect or catch some frightful bug and DIE!

Oh, and Bob B, apparently Her Maj is well, but recovering from a cold. It might even be true… Anyway, her Christmas Speech was, apparently, the ratings hit of Christmas TV. Which, as it is now confirmed that she did support Brexit after all, is A Good Thing.

Sadly, apparently the American definition of Boxing Day is this:

I didn’t watch all the videos so I can’t speak about other locations , but I do know the Oak Cliff mall on the south side of Dallas; the habitués are the usual suspects.

For some reason this whole thing saddens me greatly. I have no idea of any possible solution.

We had to take our seven-month-old to the ER on Christmas Eve. Got admitted to the hospital very early Christmas Day. So that was our holiday. He is doing much better now – should be able to move out of the PCU today, and they were able to reduce the oxygen. (RSV is a bitch) Maybe we can go home tomorrow? We’ll see.

Uncle B: What happened with the “contra” speech to be given by the late Jo Cox’s husband?

Carrie Fisher has passed away. Looks like we get a New Year’s Pool.

Indeed – weaselwannabe made it “under the wire”, and takes the (hopefully) final Spotted-Dick Award for a long, seriously-deadly Year Of 2016…R.I.P., Princess Leia Organa, gone to A Galaxy Far, Far Away…

The other day I was watching Kind Hearts and Coronets and thinking how many excellent UK actors have died since about 2000. Those who are still around are in their 80s. I dont see them being replaced, tho.

Mrs. Peel—I’m praying for the baby and your family. I hope he will soon be his sweet baby self. A 7-month old baby is the most charming of baby ages—they just smile at everyone.
