She found herself a little patch of sun…

They predicted rain all weekend long, and they were wrong. For a few hours, gloriously wrong. Sun, lambs, chickens…it’s here at last.

Of course, they predicted dry and cloudy today and it pissed all over me on the way home, so bad forecast giveth and bad forecast taketh away.

In this country, you’re better off just looking out the window.

I would have enjoyed a catnap in the sun today. But the skies were cloudy all day (not on the range, here).

Just don’t assume that a peek out the window now tells you anything about what the weather will be like in an hour.

There is nothing better than a nap in a warm sunny spot on a cool day! I have fond memories of sharing that place on the carpet where the winter sun shined in through the living room window with the cat, both of us asleep on the carpet.

Here in Dallas, predicting the weather is pretty simple as we have no mountains or oceans to confuse things.

Wind from the North – going to get cold.
Wind from the South – going to get hot.

Wind from both North and South – Hail storms and tornados.

@Somevegetable

Wasn’t it just awful though?
That dreary sky. That’s the kind of crap I fled the north to get away from (okay, and them other damned Boston Yankees…)
What a lousy weekend!
It did give me an excuse to haul out the newly acquired British Army surplus officers wool blankets though. I didn’t expect to get to use them until about November! 🙂

(I’m searching for the silver lining here ya know)

Dear ol’ Charlotte does, indeed, appear well-and-truly at peace with the day, there…even her tail appears to be well-slackened and unlaxed…

(Of course, it seems highly-possible that some wee portion of her inner-brain remains on “quiescent-but-low-level-alert”…one never knows just when some sly, sleekit, cow’r’in’ beastie might try to creep on by, y’know…)

Stoaty—would you tell Uncle B that I saw a P-38 flying over San Antonio this morning. It made two passes over my part of town (northeast quadrant). I heard the plane—didn’t know what it was, only that it had to be a warbird—but by the time I got outside it was gone from view. So I was ready if it came over again. HooEEE. What a sight to see 🙂 Maybe there’ll be something on the news about it. Perfect weather: 66 degrees and 45% humidity.

Drew458—Thank you so much. I thought the plane might have belonged to the CAF Wing up the road in San Marcos. I remember reading about the crew digging her out of the ice in Greenland. What an amazing story. So pleased to know she’s based here in SA now. It was such a joy to hear her coming and see her fly right over my house! Thanks again for your search. Deborah

THAT forktailed devil? Freaking awesome.
You don’t even need to see em…you can ‘hear’ them. Almost completely unique sounds from those old war-birds.
