What’s one o’ them?

We followed this very interesting car along a country lane for miles and miles and never caught up. Which makes sense: Uncle B thinks it might have been an early one of these.

I really just wanted to post this because it looks like a scene out of The Avengers.

Big fan when I was a kid. Sadly, I’d look pretty shit in a leather cat suit.

Dino 206 I reckon – and worth a not so small fortune.

(sigh)

That’s funny, I was just remarking to Will yesterday that I need to get a leather catsuit.

Uncle Badger, I do believe you’re correct. Here‘s a nice detailed photo of the 1969 Ferrari Dino 206 GT’s rear end. Lots of other photos here.

The Avengers. Husband was crazy about Diana Rigg. He always went for the tall ones. Julie Newmar. I’m average height, but my legs are longer than average, so that helped catch his eye.

Neat that you saw one on the road. There’s a Silver/gray Dino 265GT coming up for auction in London iffin yer in coin.

Didja know that Scaglietti also built 3 59 Corvette bodies for Shelby? Don’t it look like a Dino and a Jag had pups?

Looks like a 69 246 GT to me .. like this one: http://www.topcarrating.com/ferrari/1969-ferrari-dino-246-gt-3.jpg

The spoiler is more pronounced on the 246.

The one in this photo is worth ~ $400,000 USD.

Regarding The Avengers itself, I’ve seen one or two of the early early shows, including a couple of the Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman) ones. They’re well-done and atmospheric, but now and then you can’t tell if Steed and Cathy even like each other. It was always clear that Steed and Mrs. Peel liked each other’s company. There are a couple of moments in their first season together where you’re sure they either were sleeping together off and on, or had had an affair in the past and had mutually decided they worked better without that distraction.

Even my mother, a quick one to decide if a woman was attractive or “trashy,” thought Diana Rigg was a “beautiful girl.” (Oddly, she said the same thing about Julie Newmar as Catwoman.) Her tastes naturally ran to men like Clark Gable and David Janssen.

My father didn’t often let out a peep about what he preferred. He hated Lucille Ball, for instance (and he was old enough to recall her in movies, before the TV era). But Senta Berger drew an approving comment from him at least once. And I think he spoke warmly of Priscilla Lane of Arsenic and Old Lace fame.

(Don’t ask me how I digressed onto this topic. It’s early.)

How many cats does it take to make a suit?

I would posit that Ms. Rigg no longer looks particularly good in a cat suit, either…

Ms. Rigg may not fit a catsuit, but she still has it.

Nope. Sorry. It’s an Opel GT. Looks quite a bit like a Dino, but check out the brake lights and the center gap in the back bumper. Opel all the way. They weren’t very good cars, or very high performing ones IMO.

On second thought, it might actually be the Ferrari. You’ve got to admit the two cars look a lot alike, though the Dino is lower and wider, while the Opel is so tiny that the greenhouse seems proportionally oversized. Shame the Badgermobile wasn’t faster so you could have caught up and snapped a better picture.
