Happy equinox!

By TauʻolungaOwn work, CC0, Link

I know what you’re thinking — isn’t the equinox on the 21st? No. I guess. I guess it’s not.

The solar system. lol. How does it work?

I pay more attention to these things these days. The weather is that much more even and predictable here.

No, wait. The weather isn’t predictable. The seasons are predictable. Predictions day to day, sunny or rainy, are wrong more often than they’re right, probably because this is a little island off a big landmass, stuck out in the churning Atlantic.

But the seasons change more or less when they’re supposed to. They don’t get the wild swings and sudden weirdnesses we got in the States.

And yes…the long draught has ended and it has begun to rain. Welcome to fall (and Monday).

At least our betters can keep track of the weather and seasons for us.

For some reason can’t find a pic of the German “F you Greta” bumper stickers.

I think the predictions now fail because they reply on the damn machines to do it. Instead of the old days.

You know, like when Ferd’s bunion ached it meant rain.
That was unserious, but I seriously think the old forecasters did a better job with less ‘information’.

Based on the hurricane projections, for example, I think they have too damn much data, and don’t rule any out.

“…the long draught has ended and it has begun to rain.”

We had our first rain last week too…the smell of the first rain of the season is so satisfying…Petrichor it’s called.

I’m ready for the seasonal change.

@OldFert…the reality behind Greta is just sad, no, it’s criminal child abuse. After reading this tweet I can no longer be annoyed with her, but angry with the users who have thrust her into a situation she can’t fully process.

Disgusting.

This Greta business is worrying. Her cult of blind followers is like something out of the mediaeval era but none of them seems to have the slightest awareness of the comparison and how equally irrational they are.

It seems we have reached a point where ‘taken leave of their senses’ is more than a figure of speech. Just this morning a BBC radio presenter was treating something she had said with the sort of weighty consideration due the pronouncement of a great scientist, instead of the chuntering of an Asperger’s sufferer whose parents should be up on charges of child abuse.

Pace Godwin, I am now starting to feel as uneasy as a sane German might have done in the mid-thirties. Green fanaticism and loss of perspective has too many parallels to be laughed off.

Ah, Greta.

Let’s all agree that putting a child who:
selectively won’t talk to people, is obsessive about how things are done, how people act, or what’s happening around her to the point of exploding, won’t eat her peas and carrots, has tantrums, plus whatever other symptoms and maladies Lakaren och Mamman claim is wrong with her…

on a small sailing vessel that will take 15 days to cross the Atlantic freakin ocean.

Sounds like a splendid idea, and winning formula for success doesn’t it!

There’s are several alternatives to what it sounds like, but this is after all, a family oriented place.

@BJM – Petrichor – thank you for the word, and the explanation!

I always thought it was some chemical reaction to pavement since I most often smell it near roads or parking lots.

BJM — good thread you referenced.

I’m beginning to wonder if handler abuse of Greta might not extend to her getting Epsteined on that sailboat on the way to the states.

She did NOT get Epsteined on the way over. According to one poll, three out of four said that they wouldn’t touch her with a ten foot pole.
