…and a lady in a chicken costume…

Specifically, Maude Adams, appearing as a rooster in the 1911 Broadway adaptation of Chantecler. Look at that costume! Look at the those feet! I want this. (O would I put the fear of God into Mo).

But that’s not what I want to talk about.

I want to talk about how the eco-nazis have done a hard pivot to veganism. Isn’t it stunning how they coordinate these things? It’s almost like they have some kind of list.

I was going to ask if they were droning on about it in the States in quite the same way, and then I remembered last night’s Golden Globe Awards dinner went vegan. All those private jets leading to all those idling private limousines were surely ecologically balanced by the lack of meat on the table.

(psst…if you haven’t seen Ricky Gervais deliver his savage opening monologue, it’s worth 8 minutes of your day).

How typical. Let’s concede meat is bad for the planet (I don’t, but let’s). If you harped on this loudly and longly enough, you could probably guilt people into cutting down. Maybe go for Meatless Monday — do it for the planet! It’s not a lot, but it’s achievable.

You might even get a few takers on vegetarianism. Maybe a few people who were already leaning that way could nudged over the line.

But full on veganism? Pushing that to all of Great Britain? Or the U.S.? That’s a big ask of a largely indifferent population. Ain’t nobody going to make that sacrifice just to appease the Swedish Doom Goblin.

So they’d rather make no improvement than improve less than the maximum. If that isn’t empty virtue signalling, I don’t know what is.

If God didn’t want us to eat animals, why did He make them out of meat?

And I’m getting more than a little tired of all of these busybodies and virtuous scolds who are so insistent on telling me how to live my life.

Every major burger chain the US, from Burger King on over to Hardee’s, now has a veggieburger variant (meaning it’s named something to emphasize it’s not meat). I can visualize that in short order, say five to ten years, the “regular” burger will be the veggieburger and the specialty burger will be actual meat.

There’s a YouTube channel called Lumnah Acres which is all about a couple raising chickens and goats and pigs in lieu of the normal American rat race of job, commute, mortgage, etc.

Learned a lot about food production. You have egg chickens and you have meat chickens. Old egg chickens graduate to meat chickens. For meat chickens, hatch to dinner table is only 4 months. Thus there will always be chicken dinners.

Pigs are annual. Piglet to dinner table is a spring to fall thing. In November, the locals help each other carve out bacon, ham, etc. then have ham and eggs all winter.

Their goat plan is to sell “goat soap”. Wtf, never heard of it, but they have a ton of goats.

We kinda need of weasel YouTube channel!

They can have my steak right after they pry the rifle out of my cold dead fingers.

We had slow cooker pork tenderloin and sweet potatoes for supper with a side of steamed broccoli.

And lo, it was good.
And the wife did grin.

Zero respect for a bunch of actors putting on a show for each other about how ‘good’ and socially conscious they are.
Gervais is, as you say across the pond, spot on.
Accept the award, say thank you, and fornicate off.

I like to daydream that Ricky Gervais’s speech is a sign that we have reached peak liberal-mindset and that the tide is going out for them. Trump really has changed the battlefield, although the shift started before he took office.

Things were reaching crescendo when the Democrats started pushing trans-sexuals as an oppressed group and insisting on giving them access to the locker room of their choice. However, the mistreatment of Blacks and Homosexuals cards were loosing their effectiveness so they needed -something- to make the Republicans look mean. However, for some reason Trans-sexual haven’t played as well with the general public.

As for climate change, minds are pretty much decided and you can only beat a dead horse for so long before the stick breaks. People are tired of stupidity like having their straws confiscated. Grater sorry, Greta, their new star, is a surly scold in the Elizabeth Warren mold, and her ugly shtick is winning no converts.

So what’s a new pressure point where Virtue Signalers®️ won’t be met with a weary sigh and a scowl? Veganism. However, I don’t think Veganism is going to work for the True Believers for very long, for a simple reason: it’s being commercialized by major corporations. The idea of saving the world by eating at MacDonalds is a cognitive dissidence too far for most Liberals.

In fact I have a new idea for irritating Vegans: I am going to propose that the American Government sent Impossible Burgers to starving Africa, maybe even opening “free Burger King restaurants” so the Africans can get free veggie burgers 24 hours a day. Oh, but only serving diet sodas and fries cooked in vegetable oil, of course.

Anyhow, I think that the times they are a’changing.

Piers Anthony, not my favorite Brit, did a nice cover of Gervais hit on Hollywood.

Two guys I normally don’t like agreeing with me.

The sea change is nice, even if it only lasts a couple days.

As we used to say Ricky showed serious testicular fortitude.

Bwaahahahahah never comment when you’re still asleep!
– I apologize to Piers Anthony!

I meant the other Piers 🙂

And when I say Piers, I don’t mean Peers.
