Imagine thinking it was a bad idea to not kill people, or not lie, and don’t cheat or steal!

What kind of culture do you get when you run around not trying to murder/cheat and lie your way to the top?

And then imagine trying to base your civilization on those ideas? And continue to try to live by those even when you fall off the wagon in practicing them now and again.

Just an aside observance but, the flag!? I often see it displayed improperly but for crying out loud it’s the damn Smithsonian!

@Surly Ermine—The first thing I noticed was the backwards flag! I was shouting at my computer (but I do that a lot lately).

Then for further entertainment, try to get them to understand the English phrase –
“The flag is always posted on it’s own right”.

I read that document approvingly as an expression of traditional American values. It wasn’t till I read the comments that I realised that the NMAAHC assumed that people would be offended by it.
I have just been looking at the very involved U.S. Flag Code. There is no equivalent for the U.K. flag. We can do what we like with it. They even sell Union Jack toilet paper.
The only convention I am aware of is that if the Union Jack (or Union Flag if you prefer) is flown upside down it is a sign of distress. You just have to hope that someone notices that it is upside down.

I’m still trying to figure out what jackweed honestly thought those were objectionable qualities.
