Dead Pool Round 144: Coldest May Since 1649

Lester III takes it with Norman Loyd. I didn’t think I knew who he was, but I looked up his filmography and I’ve seen a few things he’s been in.

Which is no surprise. Dude was a hunnert and six!

Are we ready? Then let’s begin.

0. Rule Zero (AKA Steve’s Rule): your pick has to be living when picked. Also, nobody whose execution date is circled on the calendar. Also, please don’t kill anybody. Plus (Pupster’s Rule) no picking someone who’s only famous for being the oldest person alive.

1. Pick a celebrity. Any celebrity — though I reserve the right to nix picks I never heard of (I don’t generally follow the Dead Pool threads carefully, so if you’re unsure of your pick, call it to my attention).

2. We start from scratch every time. No matter who you had last time, or who you may have called between rounds, you have to turn up on this very thread and stake your claim.

3. Poaching and other dirty tricks positively encouraged.

4. Your first choice sticks. Don’t just blurt something out, m’kay? Also, make sure you have a correct spelling of your choice somewhere in your comment. These threads get longish and I use search to figure out if we have a winner.

5. It’s up to you to search the thread and make sure your choice is unique. I’m waayyyy too lazy to catch the dupes. Popular picks go fast.

6. The pool stays open until somebody on the list dies. Feel free to jump in any time. Noobs, strangers, drive-bys and one-comment-wonders — all are welcome.

7. If you want your fabulous prize, you have to entrust me with a mailing address. If you’ve won before, send me your address again. I don’t keep good records.

8. The new DeadPool will begin 6pm WBT (Weasel’s Blog Time) the Friday after the last round is concluded.

The winner, if the winner chooses to entrust me with a mailing address, will receive an Official Certificate of Dick Winning and a small original drawing on paper suffused with elephant shit particles. Because I’m fresh out of fairy shit particles.

Gina Lollobrigida (born Luigia Lollobrigida, July 4, 1927). Model, film actress, director, photojournalist, philanthropist.

For good reason, she has been called one of the most beautiful women of Europe. Here she is with James Mason and Lee Van Cleef in Bad Man’s River (1971) left, and on the right as Sheba in Solomon and Sheba (1959). Lollobrigida is also well known for her roles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1956), and Trapeze (1956).

Also for good reason, she accumulated a lot of fine jewelry from admirers and lovers over the years and in 2013 sold it for almost $5 million and donated the proceeds to stem cell research.

I have been listening to “Rocking In The Free World” and so this song has been running through my head all day:

🎶My, my, hey, hey. Rock And Roll has had its day
It’s better to burn out than fade away
My, my, hey, hey…..🎶

So Neil Young it’s time to burn out cause you’re fading man, you’re fading.

Still like the album though.

I don’t pick the oldest celeb I can think of. That’s like, too easy. I like to go for relatively young ones whose passing would make me laugh all day. Especially if the passing was due to autoerotic asphyxia.

Comment from Subotai Bahadur

Changing up a bit. I expect the Left to start killing anyone to the Right of them, but then again Biden [I know, already picked] is not going to last too long and I think will resign or be declared incompetent. Which will leave Kamala Harris in office and she will trigger the next great unpleasantness right smartly, so in self-preservation the Left will take her out [putting Pelosi in office]

I’ve been thinking about the dead pool, my fellow participants, the facility with which we choose our candidates, and then I wonder.

Would millennial even know who.it is many of us pick?

It is (relatively) easy to reach back in the dim recesses of our brains, think of some actor, actress, politician, sports figure, etc, check if the old buzzard is still fogging a mirror, somewhere, and fetch up the name, here.

Then the rest of us ooh and aaah. “Oh! That’s a good pick.” “Ah! I wish I thought of that one!”

That’s cause we are old!

Pretty soon, as likely as not, we will start picking each other.
