That’s good luck, right?

Biking in to work today, a stoat crossed my path. Right in front of me. It might have been a weasel – it all happened very quickly.

Our bike path is very overgrown and we know the countryside is alive with baby bunnies, because our kitties keep bringing us dead ones for breakfast.

I reckon it was a mama weasel hunting. There’s a busy road to the right but a big wheat field to the left. I hope she stays well away from danger.

I took it as a good omen and had a warm feeling all day.

Of course, it might have been a rat.

Was it still wearing a mask?

American rats and weasels have started to go without you know, provided they’ve been vaccinated.

I love the reconstruction!
No chance of a color version is there? Fields and such paths bring pleasant memories.

Until I finally noticed the “artist’s reconstruction” disclaimer, I was thinking “Wow, she has a dash-cam on her bike?” Way to get trendy!

Hey, Stoats. I’ve no idea if you’ve ever stumbled across a comic blog called Johnny Optimism. https://johnnyoptimism.blogspot.com/
But I think you just might appreciate the humor. It’s more than a bit off.

Anywho, after your language posts a couple of days ago this strip there made me think of you:

Yeah, I was thinking ‘0l Weaz has gone all 21st Century on us what with her E-Bike and its dash cam…

How is the E-biking these days anyhow? Is it so quiet you can sneak up on a weasel?

Does it play music?

@Someveg – wow! I think.
have to wonder if someone won’t get in a wreck trying to compose something ‘on the fly’, as it were.

Now, I’m not a quantum superstitionist, so I’m wondering what the state of the weasel/rat is on the value of the creature as an omen.

Stoaty: “Of course, it might have been a rat.”

Even if it was, that’s not necessarily a bad thing is there’s a weasel hunting nearby. And as I understand things, weasels spend more time hunting than doing pretty much anything else.

The photo I linked to above came from countrylife.co.uk. I didn’t want to irk Akismet with a two-link comment.

I love doing those ‘artist reconstruction’ graphics. I hit up Google for a few pictures and then cut them together. It’s a ‘Shopper’s delight.

Thanks for the link, Mike. What a terrific idea, pinching illustrations from instructional leaflets. I think that’s what he’s done.

@Uncle Al – I thought weasels spent all their time playing on backyard trampolines.

We’ve had an interesting week. A couple people have been talking about a bear in the neighborhood. I was just blowing it off. Last night a neighbor had his porch torn up .Apparently a local cat had her kittens hidden there. The bear gobbled them down. I’m thinking good bear… others are telling me to drop the bear!

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
