Ladies and gentlemen, the most expensive TV series ever made

This is a still from the Twitter trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power coming this September from Amazon. The cost of the first season alone was $462 million. There is speculation that the entire series could cost a cool billion dollars.

Hahaha…like it will survive its first season.

The actual fandom is going to hate this thing, and if you’re not trying to appeal to the fandom, what exactly are you doing? You think Star Wars nerds are fussy about canon? Hoo boy! LOTR aficionados are like Medieval abbots.

I hate it, I’m not a super fan and all I saw was a one-minute trailer.

It’s not just the random race-swapping; the whole production is horribly tone deaf. The wise and beautiful Galadriel of the Tolkien books appears as some kind of sword-slinging action hero. Young Sauron is a dead ringer for Eminem, without the aura of menace. The CGI is good in places and bad in others but, point is, there’s way too much of it.

I hope it costs so much money even Bezos winces.

We have a winner! HottyTottyGirl takes the dick with Tony Dow. In a thrilling first for the Dead Pool, Dow was erroneously declared dead a few hours prematurely, giving our girl an open goal for a sneaky pick.

Back here? Tomorrow? 6 WBT? Dead Pool 155! You betcha!

I am no longer a Lenny Henry fan. Just from the stills.

The comments under the You Tube trailer for The Rings of Power are wonderful. “It’s a masterpiece we don’t deserve.” “Absolutely stunning and brave. Powerful. Speechless.” Netflix thought Jane Austen fans were testy over the 2022 “Persuasion” travesty – the Tolkien fans are going to eat Amazon Prime alive.

@Teej — How to put a link in your comments:

Let’s make a link to sweasel.com appear with clickable text that says Click Here. If you type in

Simon says Click Here please.

You’ll get

Simon says Click Here please.

It’s a little involved, a little geeky, but that’s how you do it. You can copy/paste the full address and put it between the double quotes. Simpler but not as pretty is just put that full address in the comment without the rest of the geek stuff and it will be clickable like this:

I hope this helps!

Given Galadriel’s history, as a leader of the rebellion of the Noldor she was a leader in the flight of the elves from Valinor, and the kinslaying of the Teleri.

If I recall the lore correctly she couldn’t return to the utter most West until the first age passed because of the doom of Mandos.
And she wanted to establish her own kingdom too.
So, sword swinging isn’t out of the question I think.

Yes, I am a LOTR nerd of exactly the sort who might watch to see what the world looks like but will bitch loudly about, for example, shit like replacing Glorfindal with Arwen at the Ford of Brunien when Frodo is almost taken by the Ringwraiths ad they did in the Fellowship movie.

Or shit like dwarf/elf love affairs as in the Hobbit movie.

I expect we’ll have to have same sex love stories and all kinds of other modern shit that played ZERO parts in any of the lore.

Latest bullshit Hollywood screens screwing – Halo, which chapped my ass 40 minutes into the first episode when Master Chief TOOK OFF HIS HELMET!

Amazon will, at least, remain true that during the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!

I couldn’t make it through the LotR film trilogy, ESPECIALLY Return of the King, so there isn’t a chance I’m wasting time on this abomination. I’ll enjoy everyone else’s woeful reviews, though.

I couldn’t make it through either, Lester. I got precisely as far as the dwarf tossing scene and flipped out.
