My pumpkin this year is meh
By which I mean the “meh” emoji. Yes, I really am that lazy.
I wanted a small but perfect pumpkin this year, so I took one off a display I’m pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to touch. Yes, I’m that much of a weasel. I did pay for it, though.
We’ve found ourselves a cache of awful old horror movies. Happy Halloween!

TCM ran a Bowery Boys vs. Monsters marathon a couple years ago. It was awesome! No one can murbelize the English language like Slip Mahoney. I’ll have Monster House on while I pass out the candy, as usual. Highly recommended.

Pumpkin Curry Soup
(all US measures)
2 Tablespoons butter or olive oil
½ cup diced onion
One 15 oz can pumpkin puree (NOT pie filling with spices)
1 ½ cups water or chicken broth (use boxed chicken broth if you can)
1 teaspoon curry powder (or more to taste)
½ teaspoon salt (or more to taste)
pinch cayenne
1 cup milk or half and half (half& half is better)
Heat the butter or oil in a medium pot and saute the onions 5 or 6 minutes until they are clear and soft, stirring occasionally. Stir in the pumpkin, water or broth, curry, salt and cayenne. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes, uncovered. Add the milk or half and half and simmer on very low heat for another 5 minutes. This soup is ok on the first day but really good on the second day.
