They’re stealing the cheese!
Luxury cheese heists are apparently a thing now.
Where’s it going? Russia. Because of sanctions, Russians can’t get decent cheese from abroad and they prefer it over domestic cheese. Or Belarus, which has legal trade with Russia.
Cheese is enormously expensive, and the black market food trade (other kinds of luxury food gets lifted) has much lesser penalties than the drug trade, if your ass gets caught.
There are people with more money than sense out there. Behold, the £6,000 Christmas food hamper!
I ain’t going to lie – I’m still over here bingeing liberal tears videos all day.
p.s. both “binging” and “bingeing” are correct, but binging looks stupid.
p.p.s. image is what happens when you give AI “stolen cheese” as a prompt. Over and over, artguru.ai just gave me pictures of cheese with ‘tarded machine language versions of “stolen cheese” on the label. Cheese itself isn’t bad, but the wedges are all weird.

What, no Velveeta?
Personally I’ve been fond of Wensleydale since Wallace and Gromit went to the moon.
But it’s so pricey.
Now, Velveeta, there’s a cheese that lasts, on the shelf, and in the fridge, because it’s sold by the ton and no one here will eat it unless it’s buried in some recipe.
As for the tears and cheese – I’ve been immensely enjoying the insane rants from the “future cat ladies of America” swearing off sex, wearing their little blue bracelets, and shaving their heads to “punish” the rest of us.

My cholesterol is sky-high, so I’ve cut back on dairy, eggs, and red meat. We did splurge on fried shrimp last Saturday. Best shrimp I’ve eaten since I moved away from Galveston Bay—17 years ago. So cheese is mostly off my menu now, but I had a tiny bit on my breakfast burrito this morning. JavaMan makes delicious breakfast burritos.
My doctor wants me to take a cholesterol shot—Repatha—that costs $14,000 a year. I said no.

@Deborah HH. If your untreated total cholesterol isn’t over 500 then you got nothing on me. I eat all the dairy, eggs and red meat I desire because mine is familial hypercholesterolemia. Doesn’t matter what I eat, it’s my genetics. I’ve been on Repatha for 9 years now. Can’t take statins. Even on the repatha, my most recent bloodwork (as of last Thursday has my total cholesterol at 260.
My insurance covers Repatha (Tricare) and I pay $37 for 90 days. There are manufacturers coupons for Repatha and the other PSK inhibitors that will bring the cost down to under $50/month.

For Deborah and Armybrat, cholesterol is good for your brain and people that take drugs to lower cholesterol have been found to later develop Alzheimer disease or other brain problems: https://alzres.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13195-023-01360-0

It’s beginning to look as though higher than average blood cholesterol is more of a symptom than a cause. As Joan points out, cholesterol is its benefits and lowering it with drugs has its risks. The main plus to lowering cholesterol is that it measurably reduces stroke risk in older people.
Velveeta gets a lot of sneering criticism by self-professed gourmets and connoisseurs. I think their problem with it is that they classify it erroneously as cheese. Once you put it in a different category it’s pretty good as an ingredient in other dishes. It’s pretty icky eaten by itself.
