On the other hand, I have had lots of fun over the years sticking my card in ATM looking machines in foreign places to see what would come out.

Stuck it in one inside what I took to be a bank in a small fishing village in Korea. Apparently it was the local fish trading house, and I bought the next six months squid catch from three different vessels.

But the receipt was pretty cool.

Only thing hot about Pelosi is the chimp brain she stole to replace the one she wasn’t using.

If I’m going to the UK and I need some walkin’ around money while I’m there, I find the best way is to do a SWIFT transfer to my parents’ account. To wire, say, $2000 costs me $15 and it goes through at spot. For really big transactions (six figures or more) SWIFT is the only game in town. You can send $200,000 and pay $45.

I am firmly ensconced back in Costa Rica now and I am warm for the first time in a fortnight. I thought I was going to die of hypothermia this morning waiting for the shuttle bus to Heathrow at 6am.

Oh, and get this: Miami International charges for WiFi. And you can only pay by credit card. A US credit card. Someone needs to explain the whole ‘international’ thing to them (and when a pint of Sam Adams costs $8.66, you can afford to give people free Internet. My local pub here does and they don’t charge anything like that for a beer.) Grr.
