Because I can is why…

pelosi blows smoke rings

Jes’ playing around with ImageReady’s .gif animation tools. Because that’s the only animation tool I got.

Yep, my desktop machine is still busted and I haven’t QUITE talked myself into a new one, on account of every time I tot up the bare minimum things I need to enter the multi-core world where all the cool kids hang out, the bottom line makes my eyes water.

And then I see a sidebar ad for Photoshop’s Extended version. It has 3D bits. Droooool.

$999.

Times like this, I really miss my old faceless evil American corporation and her magical bottomless pockets.

Are there really enough customer for thousand-dollar design tools that it’s worth running a big shiny sidebar ad? Weird. I just don’t get the economics of the Web.

Me and everybody else, I guess.

The Daily Telegraph is going behind a paywall. Scuttlebutt is, the Times (the London one) lost 95% of its online readership when it went behind a paywall — AND lost print circulation, too.

Good luck with that, fellas.

Which shipping method is kinder to your stuff?

So, I bought some 64-bit dog-food, but it all looks like kibbles to me.

For The Dread Pirate Neck Beard:

Why on earth would you buy ANY food that has already been bit 64 times? Sounds like animal cruelty to me…

sweasel, you say you use a hot water bottle to keep the feathered cuties warm? How ’bout this? Snuggle Safe pet heating pad disc thingie.

You nuke it for prescribed amount of minutes, wrap it in something so as not to burn critter skin, and it stays warm 8-12 hours. I use it in my pigs’ cage when it gets super cold or it came in handy when a couple of them were recovering from surgery.

That is actually what I use with the chickens, PnB. Bought one last month. The literal hot water bottle goes in the box where we’ve been letting the neighborhood stray cat sleep.

Yep. Got the animal thing bad.

The snow is incredible this morning!

Don’t know if this has been reported already, but:

Last night I was walking through the clinic waiting room, and happened to glance at the TV. It was a commercial, for what I have no idea, because my brain was going, “Hey! That’s the chick from Pomplamoose! And that dude, he’s the dude from Pomplamoose! Holy crap, that’s Pomplamoose doing a f’ing TV commercial! Awesome!” and by that time the commercial was over, so I never really fixed on the actual product.

But, anyway, it looks like your little friends are on their way up. Just thought I’d pass it on.

I now return to my regularly scheduled lurking.

Reasonably priced whizzo ‘puters? Go to novatech.co.uk. They are based in Portsmouth, have good stuff at reasonable prices (for the UK) and they offer fantastic after-sales service.
I am a very satisfied customer of theirs.
Latest Photoshop? 30HKD (Hong Kong Dollars) guaranteed cracked and up-dateable.
Ask me how I know!

Heh. Novatech is where I ended up. I’m just waiting for some feedback from them…a few questions I had. This is a big jump for me; my old desktop machine was, like, six years old.

See, here be the deal is…

If I were to become an even halfway serious DTP artist (or whatever they are calling it these days), I’d go Mac. Main reason being that for things like Photoshop and the like, it just friggin’ works. I’ve tried both ways to do me some Photoshop, and Mac just wins for so many reasons as to not be able to fit in a comment section.

I understand the price thing. I went Windows because the Apples just last way beyond Apple supporting them. My Mac is running on 8 years, and is now completely “obsolete”.

I write “obsolete” because they just stopped supporting it. It still works awesome, I just can’t update it anymore. Thus, the craptackular Dell laptop is what I’m using to waste time on the interwebs.

I just realized those smoke rings are coming out the wrong end of Pelosi. But let me assure you that we all have NO interest in seeing the other end in action.
