Dead Pool Round 143: So soon already?

I posted last night. Honest I did. I just didn’t hit the post button.

Eh, I guess it’s one in the can for next week.

Pablo takes the dick with Ramsey Clark. Last surviving member of LBJ’s cabinet. I remember the name, but I didn’t remember anything about him. I don’t know. I think I’ll keep it that way.

Hm. Have any of the picks in the last year died of the ‘Rona? I don’t think so. Huh.

Are we ready? Then let’s begin.

0. Rule Zero (AKA Steve’s Rule): your pick has to be living when picked. Also, nobody whose execution date is circled on the calendar. Also, please don’t kill anybody. Plus (Pupster’s Rule) no picking someone who’s only famous for being the oldest person alive.

1. Pick a celebrity. Any celebrity — though I reserve the right to nix picks I never heard of (I don’t generally follow the Dead Pool threads carefully, so if you’re unsure of your pick, call it to my attention).

2. We start from scratch every time. No matter who you had last time, or who you may have called between rounds, you have to turn up on this very thread and stake your claim.

3. Poaching and other dirty tricks positively encouraged.

4. Your first choice sticks. Don’t just blurt something out, m’kay? Also, make sure you have a correct spelling of your choice somewhere in your comment. These threads get longish and I use search to figure out if we have a winner.

5. It’s up to you to search the thread and make sure your choice is unique. I’m waayyyy too lazy to catch the dupes. Popular picks go fast.

6. The pool stays open until somebody on the list dies. Feel free to jump in any time. Noobs, strangers, drive-bys and one-comment-wonders — all are welcome.

7. If you want your fabulous prize, you have to entrust me with a mailing address. If you’ve won before, send me your address again. I don’t keep good records.

8. The new DeadPool will begin 6pm WBT (Weasel’s Blog Time) the Friday after the last round is concluded.

The winner, if the winner chooses to entrust me with a mailing address, will receive an Official Certificate of Dick Winning and a small original drawing on paper suffused with elephant shit particles. Because I’m fresh out of fairy shit particles.

Late to the Dead Pool. Going with former MPD Officer Derek Chauvin again. Verdict is due this week and civic unpleasantness is expected no matter which way it goes. I find it noteworthy that Minneapolis public schools have gone back to “remote learning” after returning to regular classes in school for Wednesday-Friday and possibly longer. The official excuse is that it might be too dangerous to have kids going to and from school. A widespread alternative excuse [that is far more likely] is that the teachers and the students need to be given their chance to take part in the riots, which school would interfere with. I suspect that either in custody or out, Derek Chauvin will be taken out be someone. And that someone will either never be caught or will not be prosecuted. The appropriate response by MPD to that would be for the officers to all quit. They have had plenty of time to look for work at departments elsewhere since this started.

To: Subotai Bahadur

You are completely correct. They have already tried and hung him in the court of public opinion. My comments to anyone who has already convicted him is put yourself in his place. Your restraining someone while a mob is yelling at you. How would you have reacted? If he had not been preoccupied with the crowd would it have been a different scenario? Too many times the Mob has attacked people and hurt them in America without suffering any consequence. They have done this under the guise of being peaceful protestors. I was taught in High School that America did not have political prisoners’ like other dictatorial type governments. Boy was I sold a Lie.

@BallDawgGuy – don’t forget “the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial”.
We’re all worried about the ‘rights’ of terrorists in Gitmo but…

Not defending “Gaslane” Maxwell in any way, but sitting in jail for a year, when they think they have enough to arrest her, but NOT to try her?

His Masjesty King George III would have perfectly understood throwing someone in stew for a long time before trial, which is what the 6th is supposed to protect us from. Oh, but, the New York court is really really really busy. Gotta look into Donald Trump’s taxes and his old lawyer and accountants and so forth.

Sounds like a huge violation of the 6th Amendment.
She’s on the wrong side of the ‘in crowd’ now, almost certainly has information about the ‘in crowd’ that they don’t want out in court or public.

That’s why she keeps ending up as a dead-pool pick.

Evangelist and whack-a-do faith healer Earnest Angley has died at 99.

Growing up outside of Cleveland in the early 70’s I was mesmerized by this guy whose local Sunday TV show featured him laying his hand on people’s foreheads. After commanding the Devil to “Come Out!” they would suddenly collapse, safely caught by two or more handlers conveniently standing behind the afflicted. Regardless of the prior affliction the newly healed would proudly show off the healed body part and the show continued.

Angley set the bar for all future televangelists…
