Shiny

It’s a Stanley Steamer! Spotted at one of the country shows. Classic cars and steam engines are a big feature of the shows, and this is both.

I’ve got to go to a lecture tonight. It’s being given by my boss, so I really do have to go. On – what else? – local history.

I will leave you to contemplate the color version, which is big, red and shiny. I strongly suspect Stanley came out of that trailer behind him and not under his own, erm, steam.

First car to break the mile-a-minute barrier. Also the first car to make 120 MPH – two miles a minute!

Yes, but does it have microchips to manage the boiler?

When I was a kid back in the dark ages, my next-door neighbor (who restored old cars as a hobby) had one of these, in green. Beautiful car. You rode in almost total silence except for the occasional whoosh! and click-clack, and the sound of the tires on asphalt. Good times…

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
