I swear, Waldo’s in there somewhere

I hate Google Photo’s slideshow, which shows you pictures you took X years ago. It’s almost always a dead pet or sad memory. But this was fun – my desk from when I was still actively painting. Honestly, it isn’t as random as it looks.

I thought you might have fun looking it over at the full 4,000 pixels wide, but WordPress has an automatic feature that scales down big pictures and you have to go into the PHP and alter code to stop it. I think I’ve messed with my theme enough, don’t you?

But here it is at 2500 pixels wide. Still plenty of Easter eggs to find. (Do let me know if you spot something embarrassing or identifying).

I need to straighten it up some time – not because it’s messy but because there are a lot of old ink bottles and jars of turpentine that have dried right up.

All intelligent, creative people have a desk like that.

It’s because I (or you, dear reader) can be distracted by some innovative concept or novel tinkering technique.

Distractions inhibit progress.

Disconnected observations:

1. I wonder if Frank Incense is the same guy I knew at Fort Benning back in 1969.

2. A lot of artist’s paraphernalia looks like doper’s paraphernalia, but I’m sure all that stuff is, like, totally innocent.

3. On top of a nice wooden box center left is an oval Delft(ish) sugar bowl whose lid handle is an utterly adorable ermine. I like!

4. I think you need a new toothbrush.

On the top, over on the left, mostly hidden by the gray light fixture, I can see what looks like a coffee cup with a face and ears.
I don’t know what it actually is, but now I want a coffee cup with a face and ears.

I was going to say that’s the biggest red roach clip I’ve ever seen…
But that’s more of a reflection on me than you.

What you need to do is a Daily Fail picture challenge to see if people can find….the cup with face and ears, for example, in 30 seconds or less.

I think that’s an egg cup, Veeshir. I did once do a whole Mad Tea Party tea set for a competition – everything had a face and ears – but they didn’t get enough entries and cancelled the contest 🙁

My favorite was the creamer – the milk came out of its nose.

Love the studies in the book.

The Persian mouse pad brings back memories.
