Food for thought

I have a lecture to go to tonight, so I’ll leave you to read this article. I know, I know…another alarmist piece about AI. But this one is longer on detail than most.

Can confirm some of what he’s saying, as I’ve been working with AI more lately. I’m proofreading a bunch of Word files and then turning them into HTML to publish on the web. At the moment, ChatGPT is helping me work out ways to batch process the files and troubleshoot the results.

If this guy is right, the next step is that AI does the whole job for me. And, honestly…I’m okay with that. These bits were always the drudgery.

I’m a little less sanguine about losing the design part.

Coincidentally, I was in the middle of Shumer’s post linked from Citizen Free Press, took a break, checked in here, and look what I found.

To use somewhat dated jargon, the AI singularity is upon us. In other somewhat dated jargon, Skynet is, if not quite born, at least gestating quickly.

We’re gonna need bigger EMPs.

I too read Citizen Free Press (frequently throughout the day!) and read this article yesterday. Yikes! I’m glad I’m retired. The speed at which we are evolving via AI is unfathomable….tell your kids and grand kids to learn a trade that requires hands on skills which will only be viable until Musk’s robots eventually take over….

This article is being referenced all over the blogosphere.

This is probably the fourth site that has cited this article as an interesting take on our collective concerns.

(yeah. I'm going to write)

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
