Just a glitch after all

This is the photo I was trying to post last night. Nothing too interesting – a display of old sewing machines in the window of a shop in Bexhill. Note the strip at the bottom of the display, which emulates a giant tape measure.
Whenever I think of sewing machines, I think of Betty Hutton – high as a kite and singing to a girl’s best friend.

Another quickie! DP 191 won by LavenderGirl by picking Sally Kirkland, of Anna and Charlie’s Angels among lots of other shows and movies.

SingerSoundSystem on Youtube has a hurdy gurdy mounted on a Singer foot pedal sewing machine base.Even you don’t care for his musical selections, watching this guy is a joy.

Working models sought after by off the survivalist types.
Because they aren’t electric, run by computers, won’t report your stitching to the internet, and had parts that someone with shop machining knowledge could replace themselves.
And they, demonstrably, last five-ever.
Mrs D had her mother’s electric machine – circa 1960s repaired, as my sons say “back in the oughts”, and the shop had numerous models older than that, many like these, sitting on the nice repair man’s shelves, waiting for pickup.
Some of it nostalgia where great grand mothers machine would have a place in the front room, others put back to work.
