While I appreciate Ace’s enthusiasm for the mission, by blacking himself out for a day all he’s really done is neutralize himself as a communications device, which is the essential function of a blog.

List includes blogs with open letter type posts on “Why I’m silent”, blogs with posts on “Why I am NOT silent” and blogs with posts on “Why this is stupid wingnut behavior” — all, of course, bring the spotlight on Kimberlin’s abusive activity.

Also, Erick Erickson reports (via Breitbart) “I have been told that Monday, the House of Representatives will engage on this and seventy or more members will formally be sending a letter to Eric Holder, asking him on behalf of these members of the house to also get the FBI involved.”

Ace was blanking the posts faster than I could read them, Nony, so I don’t know specifically. But generally, several posters were posting knuckleheaded and possibly legally actionable statements about Kimberlin. Or, at least, statements that Kimberlin could use to bolster his argument that he’s the victim here — I get the impression Ace thought they were friendly fire.

I am afraid, given the evidence of the last 20 years or so, that if you drew a Venn Diagram of the two events; you would find that the overlap is not only significant, but that it approaches the latter being an included subset of the former.

2.) Sweas, if you have not thought this through, I would advise cautious reflection and at the very least preparedness for unpleasantness. The pictures you posted and the link; while absolutely true, accurate, and reflective of reality may draw fire from the Soros-funded Left. And remember, y’all are not only not in America [where free speech is under attack and the issue is in doubt but still being fought for], but you are in Britain where free speech that is not politically correct is a crime. And you are now a British subject.

Looking at some of the other blogs, I’m getting a very filtered version of the events. Ace said he wasn’t going to accept an award due to safety concerns, someone else called him a pussy. Then others said fuck it, let the guy come at me blah blah blah. However, I don’t see anyone claiming that there were any threats made at the litigious one. Maybe there were, maybe not. Anyway, I really don’t know.

The comments had gotten unmanageable years ago and he had talked of registration for quite a while. So, not unexpected. I just hope there are not a thousand comments piling on the people now on the outs. That crap gets real old, too.

I have been wondering what was eating Ace for weeks. If he was that afraid of entering the fray with psycho Kimberlin, he should have stayed on the sidelines. The fastest way to an ass kicking is to get into a fight you are properly prepared for. So now, when his own actions have brought about then usual internet poseurs, Ace is getting thin-skinned About things.
Several years ago there was the great bit about the “banhammer” and cutting back on the offensive language and all that. then he seemed to ease up. Ever since he began his part of this Kimberlin thing, he’s way too high strung and easily offended. Hard to see where what I say as a commenter leads back to his culpability. No more so than an ATM robbery leads back to the bank for not having someone watching their mechanical money-dispenser.
Anyway, i left the HQ foe a long time other than occasional drop ins. Didn’t comment for over a year. haven’t done much in the last year, except this last week.
Unlike you, Stoaty, it feels like Ace is dumping on his Horde for the actions of some trolls.
Group punishment doesn’t work when there’s an internet and thousands of mile between you and the a-hole making the trouble.

Part of Ace’s issue with BK is that he found that the minions were trying to find his own identity to start pulling the same stuff they were doing to Patterico and the other McCain, even before he went active in opposition. So staying on the sidelines wasn’t going to help.

And he’s needed a ‘new tone’ at the HQ since 2010, when he kind of overlooked a 100 seat pickup election because of a Delaware witch hunt.
